This morning, while riding to work, suddenly the ABS warning lights stated to blink
oscilating like a ABS failure on starting the engine. The engine was runing already so I don't think is to do with the battery (brand new Oddissey, BTW). What should I check, sensors? Any advice welcomed...

Would help if you said what bike you have. There are two or three different abs systems which have different problems.

Hi Yosi, I've had this a few times. The first time was the ABS system faulting because I fell off (at low speed, no damage) but for some reason the ABS system faults. Took it to BMW because I thought (after reading this site) that it was a faulty battery. It wans't because I had a new Gel one. Didn't yo usay recently that you had an accident which you thought your ABS could have prevented? Have you tried re-setting it yourself? If this doesn't work then the only way to read the fault code is to get BMW to do it, (it will cost you about 20GBP)...

I've been riding with those (damn) lights flashing for 1000's of miles, I need a new sensor apparrently... 65GBP.... nice...(good to have ABS if you've got it mind, especially with winter coming up...)

Check the sensor gaps with the feeler gauges provided (if you have an 1150/1100).

Make sure the sensors are unobstructed.

Check the wires are connected and undamaged (seem to remember someone on a 1200 having their sensor wires wear through due to incorrect routing after getting new tyres fitted).

If this doesn't solve / identify the problem, get yourself to your local BMW dealer, and get them to read the error code from the computer, and have it reset. I also suddenly developed an ABS fault (on one of the wettest days of the year, as luck would have it), and took it to my dealer. They dealt with it in 15 minutes, cost me 18 euros. That included checking the code, checking the ABS pump (not the servo), which the computer said had an error, but was actually fine, and resetting the ABS computer.

You can also reset the ABS computer yourself, there are diagrams of how to do it on the Advrider site, I believe.

Yosi, pop around to me later this afternoon ( after 4 clock), and i'll show you how to re-set the abs on your 1100 :thumb
