ABS fault - nasty starter noise

I have a recurring ABS fault, I have reset it but to no avail.

Whilst surfing through the BMW riders forum I discovered that the volt drop caused by a loose starter motor stator can also cause this.

Now I have also been suffering from the a strange noise when startering the bike which I had been treating with typical Ostrich behaviour.

Anybody else suffered from this? I ride a 70K 1100GS

I have recently replaced my starter motor as it was sucking the battery empty after three consequent strat attempts. I thought it was the battery but it appeared the starter motor was faulty. It also made a very strange staggering noise. Other effect was that my fuel consumption was higher than normal (-70 kms on a full 30 L tank).
