I've just picked up a ABS fault on my way home on my 1200.. (ABS Light stays on) It's not a servo system any one any ideas what it could be? Checked the switches on the levers & the brake light it working too...

Second question - assuming I find the fault can I clear the it by resetting the ecu

Thanks - I'm heading off on it on holdiays at the weekend so I don't have time for BMW to sort it out :(

I had a similar thing a little while ago, ABS light stayed on and system shut down reverting to a normal unlinked system.

Turned out to be a broken wire under the seat according to my dealer, took 'em a while to find by all accounts.

This may not be the same issue if your ABS hasn't shut down.

First thing to check - is the brake light on all the time?

ABS is down alright... I'm hoping it's something I can find... holidays looming at the weekend...

Have you checked the small switch tucked away at the front of the lever ... it has a tiny allen head underneath (may need to loosen handgaurd to get to it) that adjusts its contacting. Mine was dirty and needed adjusting - little bit fiddly but doable (I pulled mine out completlely and cleaned and lubed - has a small electrical connector block) First check is when you pull the brake lever in does do you hear a slight click from thi switch???

The same switch triggers the rear brake light so I'd suspect it is fine.

Dealer doagnostic or GS911 check required by the sound of things. Faults should stay resident in the ECU memory even after disconnecting power.
