ABS probs

My 2000 1150 GS has started clicking. It speeds up and slows down when the bike does and goes away if you trail the front brake. I've also noticed that the ABS still works on the back wheel (daren't try the front ). The brales still function normally and the ABS light hasn't come on. The ABS cannot be turned off though with the ABS button.
Any ideas, noise is pissing me off now.

On the other end of a computer, with the information supplied, it's just a bit difficult. Your post is so confusing - whats all the ABS "can't turn off" stuff all about ?? . How are you trying to turn it off ??? .

The noise could be something as simple as a stone in your tyre tread.

The noise is a clunking from the ABS unit (or so it sounds). It speeds up as the bike speeds up, definately not a stone in the tyre cause it's really quite loud. I thought it may be be the speedo cable but then when I trail the front brake it stops so that's why I think it's the ABS unit.
When you press the ABS button on the switch gear that should turn the ABS off shouldn't it (leaves the ABS light solid). It used to but now it doesn't (thought if I could turn the ABS off it might give me a little extra to diagnose the problem).
I know the clunk of the ABS unit on start of and it's like a muffled version of that.
I know its a tough call but do the pumps ever go wrong and if so what normally goes wrong. What happens when the ABS relay fails?, could it be a sensor out of place?
Stumped but don't wanna ride the bike incase the brakes fail. ABS pumps gonna be expensive too

Check the ABS sensor ring, mounted on the wheel. Check none of the teeth have broken off.

If one has broken off, it'll keep on tripping the abs every revolution of the wheel.

That sound like a sensible theory, I'll check it when I get home. Why would the noise go off when I trail the front brake?

prepare for the worst, ABS unit faulty . Mine went about 14 months ago, just a major 'clunk' and it went dead. BMW dealer quoted £1200 incl. fitting BUT also pointed out that i could get a unit from a breaker. I got one in the ned from J Sherlock for £200. Issues to consider:

- warranty: you must insist on a warranty on the secondhand unit from a breaker, cos they apparently can only check whether it's in order when fitted to the bike.
- same model: the unit needs to be from the same model (i.e. an RT model won't work right on a GS.

I was lucky, my ABS unit still works, 9,000 miles later. What i learned from that? Don't buy a bike with ABS again, just ride differently (and avoid ice) and you won't need it.

Or chuck the servo pump, and reconnect the brake lines, to include an in-line banjo to operate the brake light.

It's flappy pads

Think the disc is slightly warped. Doesn't feel it through the lever so only very slight. Right hand makes the noise.
