My bike, which according to its chassis number needs this new ABS recall is due to go for its 6K/year service on Friday. I have delayed the service already by 3 weeks due to wanting to get recall done at the same time. But I have still not had a letter telling me to have the bike done. Are they doing the recall yet or are they still waiting for parts? I won't it done at the same time as it is a real pain to take the bike in, although they are lending me a bike. I am off to the Austrian Alps later in May so want the brakes to be sorrted

All they do is a check ,no parts involved. Ask them when you book the service.

Or is this the suspected service that DrABS Nemiszis keeps on about?

hollow bolt

We had the saftey recall information in several German motorbike magazines including MOTORRAD

It's about the hollow bolt.

There is a bolt replacement (parts not yet available or in very short supply) and an ABS cable re-route (mine has been done so presumably parts are around for this).

NOT YET AVAILABLE OR IN VERY SHORT SUPPLY???

According to an article in the German News Magazine SPIEGEL ONLINE 04/07/2006 press officer Mr. Jürgen Stoffregen from BMW Motorrad said that "In der Zwischenzeit wurden genug Drosselschrauben produziert" which means that in the meantime there are enough choke-bolts produced"

He said that on 7th of April 2006 - how come that the parts are not yet available or in very short supply? Heck, this is a safety recall and we do have new reports of ABS failures in Germany on GS that havn't been recalled yet.

Dropped bike off this evening for its service tomorrow and was told they would be doing 4 recalls:
1. ECU upgrade for charging
2. Fuel pump seal
3. Front ABS sensor wiring
4. ABS modulator bolt/valve

Will let you know if they all get done OK. :nenau

All recalls have been done :clap I know they must have done the ABS recall as the brake fluid has been changed and it wasn't done on the service. Surprised at the difference in the colour of the fluid to the clutch fluid which wasn't been changed after just 1 year, think I might have to change that myself :eek

Wait and see if my battery goes flat now i have had the charging update done :nenau
