ABS - starting on a hill

Two weeks into ownership now so please forgive the relative newbie question.

If you hold the bike on a hill using back or front brake while starting the engine the ABS seems to think there is a problem with the brakes and flags a warning.

Is there a nack to starting the bike on a hill so that the ABS system can complete its preride checks or is that just something I going to have to learn to live with?

Put it in gear then turn the ignition on. Wait for self check to complete. Hold brake, pull in clutch start and you're away.

The brake warning light illuminates wherever you're starting the bike. It only goes out after you've pulled off regardless of whether you're starting on a hill, flat or downhill.

Even easier:

Switch-on ignition. Wait for the self-test to finish (make use of the time by donning gloves or helmet).

Then do whatever you need viz clutch and/or brakes before tapping the start button.
