Accelerator Module

Where do i get one

Lots of articles on this item, but just one question.

Where do I buy one from?

I am in Sydney Australia, and I have only seen European links so far.

Regards from 39c Sydney.

I think you will have to get one sent from Europe. I would contact the website and they should be able to send one on to you. I have one on my bike and for €60 inc del its a bargain.

maybe im thick or something, dont fuckin answer that :augie but ive read this thread and i cant tell if there is any difference to a twin cam when fitting this module. Can somebody say eitherway before i part with my hard earned. :D:clap:flag

Don't have first hand experience but generally the opinion is that it has less of an affect on the twin cam Probably mainly because the twin cams fueling is better to start with so it doesn't benefit the same

I ve a 2010 GS and when it has been removed (a few times to see) I have noticed a difference. Both in smooth ride and in fuel economy. around 6MPG less with it off the bike. So i fitted it back. I notice a difference and keep it on now. HTH

I've fitted the the cheap version of the Accelerator Module to my 2010 GSA in the hope of seeing whether a richer mixture may improve my bike's behaviour in a number of areas. This is the result of this morning's ride of my usual commute of 40 miles through town traffic, dual carriageway and motorway with an ambient temp of 10 degrees:

"Lurching" whilst riding at slow speed - much reduced.
Vibration under load - much reduced
Popping on overrun - didn't notice any this morning
Economy - too early to tell.
Engine hiccup/fluffing as pulling away - still had a minor hiccup once this morning.

Other observations:

Weirdly, unexpectedly, I could've sworn it felt smoother whilst cruising even though I understand that it should have no effect whilst on a steady speed/steady throttle. I'm just writing this off at the moment as an illusion.

Whilst pootling along at 30-40mph to get onto the motorway the bike just felt much happier trundling along in a highish gear with very little throttle - nice and easy and I was reminded more of my old Brit parallel twins (Norton Triumph AJS BSA) than the recent fuel injected boxers I've owned.

Acceleration out of roundabouts at say 30mph and onto a straight felt smoother, more relaxed and yet quicker in getting up to motorway speeds.

Over and above every individual facet of the bike's performance the real benefit is that that the bike just feels so much nicer to ride!

I can't say that the Accelerator Module is the best solution and can't say how it compares to the alternatives because I've not tried them. I also can't give you empirical evidence of any improvement as I've not dynoed my bike.

But I can say that for £30 this has made a marked improvement to my bike (according to the seat of my pants), addressed complaints that I had and confirmed that my bike was running too damned lean as standard.

For me at least, it's already proven real value for money.

Appreciate is has been done to death but to help any individuals who are contemplating the use of this gizmo I thought I would give you my thoughts to help with the weight of evidence.

I was not convinced about this gadget but recently was offered the chance of a go from a mate. I tried the short version on my 09 GSA and would agree with all the comments above. I would also suggest that 6th gear role on us stronger as well.

I haven't tried the longer version but would defo recommend the short version. The bike is much sweeter in the slow stuff and easier to control off road in the slow stuff (Waitrose car park now a doodle).

I am a convert and I had done this mod years ago.

I got an '09 GS a couple of months ago and generally I love the bike, but I'm not that keen on the lurchy on-off throttle at lower revvs.

I'd buy and fit one of these in an instant, but is there any chance that insurance companies would get uppity about these? Are they considered engine/power mods?

Zero power difference so why would insurance care?

Playing devil's advocate here, but the website does mention phrases such as, "improving the performance", "faster throttle response", "performance your[sic] always wanted", "pull better" and "tuning module". Sounds like a performance upgrade to me.

So, would you inform your insurer if you:-

fitted high performance spark plugs..
K&N air filter..
Ceramic coating to your exhaust headers..
Lighter grade engine oil..
Quick action throttle..

All of the above will improve your bikes performance.

Do you work for the insurance industry by chance?

Fitted one of these when I got home from work with some suspicion it has to be said but I was a bit disappointed with all the low speed throttle snatch and i have to say I'm very impressed with the result. So much so I think I'll treat it to a proper remap at some point. Very good value for money this bit of wire is.

Is there any risk this extra fuel will slowly kill the cats off?

Cheers,

Mark

I found mine made a noticeable difference but over time the control unit would relearn and be back to square one
A hilltop garage reprogram sorted the poor running however, not cheap but cheaper than another bike.

How can the control unit relearn what the air temperature is? It can't, it relies on the very sensor that has been modified to tell it what the temperature of the air in the air box is. Therefore, if your bike is improved with the addition of an accelerator module it will remain improved indefinitely, until you take it off.

Speak to Geoff at Hilltop he will walk you through it..
