Couple of years ago I bought and fitted an accelerator module to my 2007 single cam and removed it when I sold the bike, can this now be fitted to my 2012 twin cam, or do I need to order a new one, is the SC one different to the TC?

Cheers.

Short answer is yes, it's the same for both bikes. There is a long thread on here running into many pages that will give you all the info. I have the Booster Plug on my 12 plate tc. works well. :thumby:

That's a lot of reading in that link! I did initially look at the mentioned post but thought I'd go through it for some background info, wish I hadn't now as my brain is fried!

Do you think I'm right in saying these modules/booster plugs are a waste of time as they work initially but then the ecu adapts back to its original parameters after a period of time. Then when removed the bike runs a bit rough while it adapts again to its original parameters?

If that's the case PC V or remap seem the only options to improve fuelling.

Glad I'm not the only one who's head's now banging.

A friend of mine has an identical spec bike to mine (08 Adventure), apart from them having different aftermarket exhausts. The bike with Accelerator module is definitely smoother at lower revs with a less on/off throttle behaviour. It is also slightly better on fuel economy 1 or 2 mpg.

Does it work? Yes.
Does it wear off after a while, maybe but the effect is still there after 20K miles.

Ive not bought one simply because I keep promising myself to get a remap.

I bought the long version a while ago for my GS but didnt fit it and ive traded the bike away. Im going to fit it to my GSA if i think it needs it but havent done enough miles (171) yet. :augie

Possibly but wanted to have first service done before I fitted it. Dont know why but that was my intention. Suppose it would be easily disconnected before hand.

Hi,

I took such a cable off my F800GS before I traded it in December. Would this cable work with my Twincam 1200 GS '61 plate?

thanks

Daniel

No sure but look up the guys site and find out if the two are compatible. I would imagine they would be provided the plugs are the same.

All the module does is fool the ECU in thinking the air temperature is 20 degrees cooler than it actually is, so the bike adds about 6% extra fuel. That can't be lost over time and there's nothing the GS can do that would adapt that setting to anything else - the incoming air temp is not one of the adaptive values ( I can reset these values from the GS911 and air temp isn't one of them). I have a module and several times hooked up a GS911 to be sure thats what it was doing which it was.

To be honest I never noticed any real change in how the bike ran with just the Accelerator module - I looked at it more as a precaution to lean running as I also ran Remus headers and an Akra can. I changed to a Wunderlich Fuel Controller and that did make a great deal of difference - very noticeable in the mid range. Last year though I wanted to get rid of all unnecessary hardware and went for the remap instead. This gave me another kick up the performance ladder over the fuel controller and sorted the bike out everywhere in the rev range. Very happy in the end.

This sounds very interesting - too good to be true........?

The accelerator module is not too good to be true because to be honest it doesn't do very much. BUT it does improve fuelling so the bike is smoother to ride in town. The effect is there throughout the rev range so exhaust gas temperatures should be a bit lower as well. The same effect is possible with a 1K resistor let into the inlet air temperature circuit.

The bikes run weak as standard. The ECU can correct for a free flow exhaust so the mixture remains the same. The ECE cannot correct for a free flow air filter and free flow exhaust with or without the module.

Is it worth £30? I currently have one on loan and the throttle control does feel smoother at low speed. It should also help the exhaust valves just a bit. So probably Yes.

Is a remap or Power Commander better? Certainly, but costs at least 10x the money.

Got the extended version for sale if any one interested. £15 posted. Been on the bike for 2 years and 15000 miles no problems. 10 min to fit instructions on the website http://www.sol2.be/
