Im wanting to use a PMR radio on the bike, just put it under the rear seat and forget about it. we only use one channel so I have no need to want to access the radio .

I have taken the connector of the rear socket and put a new socket onto that lead. This is now "inside " the rear carrier .To this I have added a Din to car type cigarette lead and inserted the pushed in eliminator battery connector.

when i turn the ignition on it all powers up and works.

My issue is when i turn the ignition off the radio and leads are still live,( the lead has a green power on light which stays illuminated ) this will be draining my battery ?

I am aware the sockets still hold power for 15 mins or so after the ignition has gone off but mine is staying on all the time.

Any one any suggestions, As to how I can place the PMR under the seat and forget about it , I need it to just power up when the ignition is turned on!

Thanks in advance

Presuming you have Autocom as well? If the canbus sees too much current draw it leaves the socket on.

My TC RT didn't stay on with Autocom and Radio fed from it, but others had this problem.

Best solution is to feed Autocom & PMR from battery use Autocom mains filter with relay, feed relay from rear socket.

thanks for the reply

No theres no Autocom or anything else on the bike. the din type lead is the only accessory .I was going to connect a lead direct to the battery, and the eliminator in that, but it would give me the same issue, as where the battery would drain due to it being live all the time

I found that the Belkin USB adaptor was somehow draining the battery, even though the system was off.
I got round it by fitting a Gerbings in line 12v switch, and that cured the problem, but does mean you need to lift the seat before and after radio use.

Not if you use the autocom power relay or any other switched relay, they take power from the battery, switched feed from the power socket, so ignition on relay
Pulls in and feeds radio from the battery, switch off ignition relay drops out and isolates supply from battery.

The way I got round this was to have the Din accessory socket power a din plug which in turn powered a standard 12volt relay. When you turn the bike on the Din socket powers and the relay switches powering your accessories which would be powered through the live from the battery (via a fuse of course). I had the autocom, PMR, heated Jacket and a Phone Charger all working ok through a 6amp fuse. Then when you turn the bike of the power drops away from the socket and the everything turns off. Make sure anything you put under the seat is protect from the elements!!!!!!!

I recommend the Autocom one as its complete with fuse mains filter and wires, or go for a standard Automotive one and add your own cabling and fuse holder

I presume it's a 9v radio? So connect you din socket to either of the above.
