Is the accessory socket live when the ignition is OFF, on my GS. Sorry for such a dull post!

is it on a 1100? as i use a standard charger plugged in and it works ok, i thought with a live feed while ignition off it wouldnt have worked???

It's on a 1150. I want to use an optimate battery charger via the accessory socket.

Not sure what you mean by 'live feed' but on an 1100 the socket has a permanent (fused) connection to the battery (unswitched by the ignition). It'll happily provide power to accessories and receive power (from a charger) with the ignition on or off. Whether it's advisable to power stuff via the socket with the ignition off is another question

You'll be fine doing that.

I believe there's some sort of issue with 1200's which requires the charger to trick the canbus into keeping the feed to the socket open :nenau , but that doesn't matter to us.

I have been using an Optimate 3 to charge my 1150 via the accessory socket for 3 years with no problems. Just need to get one of the plugs to fit the socket and wire the optimate cables to it.

The 12v DIN plug is available on every street corner for a few quid. It's easy to wire to an Optimate connector - but make sure that you get the polarity correct.

Alternatively, buy one of these:

- it's a fag-ash to DIN convertor. Available here
