We asked Nippy to get it in and he has...!

Just washed the bike and coated it...will hopefully protect the bike from Salt Spray, etc...

I got a tin of this through the other day from M&P. Planning to apply this week end.
I took off the sump guard last night. for a 00 bike I was depressed at the flaking lacquer. front cover thingy has corrosion around every bolt, and the fork brace is going too. :tears

Lucky I bought the thing to ride and not look at..

Is it OK to coat all the hot bits of the engine like the cooling fins on the cylinders (exhaust excluded)?

Sprayed the whole bike, engine, pipes, exhaust the lot then used cloth for the fiddly bits like the calipers etc. Be careful as it does creep and I wouldn't like this stuff on my disc's!

Has anyone compared ACF50 with Scottoiler FS365? The latter gets good write ups and is only £5.99 for 1 litre.

Someone posted the results of an experiment on the site.

If I remember correctly someone treated some nails with various substances like WD40, used engine oil, ACF50, 3 in 1, FS365 etc and then left them outside for some time.

The FS365 didn't fare very well but the ACF50 done real good!

I use FS365 and I'm going to get some ACF50 instead.

I had read the same "test" but seemed to be stacked against the scottoiler as the salty water was applied after the scottoiler F365 was applied. Scottoiler is best applied after a ride and wash when the bike is still hot/warm. The water evapourates from the solution leaving a coating on the bike. I guess in the nail test the F365 was all washed off. Scottoiler helps the bike look like new and I use it regularly after a quick hose down - a generous spray everywhere. For intricate bits or critical elements I use the ACF50. They are different products with different characteristics.

I agree, they are different products and should be used accordingly.
365 keeps biker looking like new and neutralizes salt, just the job for us all year bikers.
I brush ACF50 on exposed bolts and wipe off excess, it seems to work well alongside 365 :yelrotflm

Am I missing something here????

Just ordered a couple of cans of ACF50 from NN (can't beleive how quickly the BMW tins do pit, all summer no problems, collected my 12GSA on Saturday and already seeing pitting on the topbox - 160ish dryish miles and I dont think they've been gritting around here)

Anyway... 1 can £12 two can deal £25??? aahhh now I see the website pricing is wrong...

Is this any better than WD40 which is alot cheaper. The Scotoiler product I used for a year and wasnt veru good as it washed off easily in heavy rain.

WD40 is crap by comparison. ACF50 really sticks, in fact come springtime it takes several washes to remove it.

now doing a special price of 2 cans of spray and one tube of grease for £24, ordered mine.
And have tried WD40, the scotoil stuff and some xlube before, nothing comes close to ACF50 :thumb

Ive tried allsorts of anti corrosion sprays etc and they have been okish. The best stuff I find is the very cheap Car Plan Back to Black cans. There useless at what there intended for but leave a clear heavy tacky silicone surface which is waterproof. At only £1 a can its a bargain!.... try it you may be surprised.
