OK I know this might sound odd but what does ACF50 look like when applied and before any crap sticks outside it? Does it give the metalwork of the bike a kind of 'wet look'

I did a search but there are loads of posts and the few I opened either discussed what is best to protect your bike or how to wash the crap and/or ACF50 off when you have applied it.

BTW reason I need to to know is the bloke that cleaned my bike after it's service sprayed some on my cylinder heads and now I am not sure if I have an oil leak or just too much ACF50 applied. If I do have an oil leak it is a very fine trickle as the oil level is not particularly going down.

Just trying to work out if the staff at the dealer did a good job by using the ACF50 :clap or a bad job by disguising an oil leak with a load of ACF50 :blast

Can't say it looks like an oil leak unless he was really enthusiastic with it!

I did mine couple of weeks ago, I know it's rather early in the year but it'd been in for a service and they'd made such a great job of cleaning it (I hate cleaning my bikes) that I felt I couldn't waste the opportunity....saved me a job later on. Doesn't it just look like there's oil smeared on it, sort of takes the shine off things a bit, well that's what I aim for at least???

It just looks like a very thin oil. If sprayed on the engine the heat will thin it more and any excess will end up in the bash plate but you only need a thin covering. It attracts dust and dirt so will quickly make the bike look filthy but it will have the protective layer underneath. I will use most of a 1 litre bottle over the winter but I think its worth it.

Bahnstormer are offering an ACF50 valet as part of a service for 30 pounds over the autumn/winter.

Thank Beemerman I think that is a good description of what I am seeing including the heat thinning comment

Riding home from the dealer I got ACF50 on my boots as well, lucky this was on the top of a recent application of leather preserver so I think they will be OK.

Oh and the dealer concerned normally charges for a full ACF 50 coating so - I guess it is :beerjug: to the guy who cleaned my bike and decided to squirt some on.
