My Zumo 550 has recently decided that it will no longer acquire satellites, everything else appears to be working OK and the unit hasn't been dropped or banged.

All it does is show the message "Acquiring Satellites" but never actually does so. I've tried resetting it and updated the software plus searched the Garmin website (and this forum) but haven't found an answer ....can anyone help or is this a fatal fault (on a 6-month old unit!)?

Ring Garmin on Tuesday and get a return reference number, then send the unit back to them. They will most likely send you a new Zumo by return. :thumb2

It quit on the trip to Tipp.

I had the same problem after the unit was only 24 hours old. I sent it back to Garmin and they sent me a new one. Don't bother waiting on trying to fix it yourself. It can't be done.

The service from Garmin could not be faulted. Ok other than I wish the unit hadn't died in the first place:aidan

Was advised to try a hard reset "always fixes the problem" NOT (BTW not advice fom Garmin tech support ;) )

Worked on external ok, never saw any reception without it. Sent it to Garmin, fixed within the week :)

Experts Galore

Should have mentioned I had everyone that was anyone that knew about the Zumo try their hand at fixing the problem.
So when I rang Garmin and Tech support and they started about recommending a fix, I just kept saying yep, tried this, done that.
The guy quickly realised that other people had advised me and gave up.
He gave me a reference number to send with the unit and that was it sorted.

Thanks to everyone who responded. I contacted Garmin tech support and they suggested the re-boot route .....no, it didn't work (and yes, I was outside with a clear view of the sky!) so I'm going to arrange to return the unit to Garmin.
