A few weeks ago I purchased a 2025 R1300GS. The passenger seat is the "sport" version with no heat. So I'm going to add the OEM comfort seat with heat (got a good deal on one). It's been discussed before, but I haven't seen a good answer to how to connect it electrically. Supposedly the 2025 R1300GS bikes without the heated rear seat have the connecting cable pre-installed with the plug somewhere under that seat, and probably also have the required software already programmed. Problem is, I don't know what that cable and plug looks like under there. I've seen several discussions about finding it, all of them different, ha! Has anyone else added the passenger seat to a to a 2025 GS? Perhaps post a pic of what it looks like and where to find it? Thanks

Hi Dave and welcome to the forum.

Personally I would not presume that the wiring will be on the bike and just tucked away.

On a 2023 R1250GS I was considering buying lastearlier this year. It came without heated seats. I thought I could just buy a pair of heated seats. Plug them in and possible get BMW to plug into the computer and all will be fine. Failing that. I could just connect my GS911 tool and program myself.

On close inspection by myself and the Service Manager. There was no wiring for the seats to connect to.

Appreciate that you have a R1300GS and not a R1250GS. You would also expect BMW to supply a universal loom that’s the same on every R1300GS. Might not be the case.

Interesting to see what you find.
I can only supply a photo of my R1300GS Adventure. Not exactly what you’re after.

From what I have read, they do produce a universal loom for the GS series now. It's just finding the plug for the seat heater that has me stumped.

Here you go. This is the connector..

And this is the origin…(yellow arrow). It comes into the seat area from the front right hand side.

This is what mine looks like under the seat and I don't see the connector that would plug into the heated seat.

No, that's not it.

I think the wire/connector will be buried towards the front right hand side of the rear seat area - to the right of the big box thing.

Granted that you find the cable, only the dealer will be able to enable it. Not sure how keen they are on doing that without selling you the seat.

They will. But if I can find the cable, there are some that say it is plug and play on 2025 models.

I am in the same position, I’ve bought a comfort heated passenger seat but cannot locate anywhere to plug it in. I asked a BMW technical guy when I was at BMW Motorrad Days in Garmisch in July and he said it wouldn’t be possible to retrofit a heated seat. But I think someone on the forum said they had but it wasn’t straight forward. I looked under the seats of a bike fitted with the heated seats and it appeared to have additional wiring to my bike. I’ve given up!

I'm sure my bike doesn't have the required wiring, and even if I bought the loom mentioned above I'm not sure whether it can be coded in?

AI says yes. I'll find out tomorrow at the dealer. They are going to look at it.

Ai says maybe -- "is often prewired".
Even if it's wired it won't be activated unless it has been paid for & activated in the software at the time of build.
It will show in the build sheet for the actual bike, which can be obtained online from a VIN decoder, as heated seat.
Also If the option for seat heating doesn't appear on the "burger button" menu on the LHS switchgear then it is activated.
I have a loan 2025 basic model 1300gs , it has the heated driver seat fitted & it is wired into the loom. The passenger seat has the switch on the side and the wire\plug on the seat but can't see a wire for it to plug into (may be hidden??).
Either way there are NO options on the burger button menu for "seat heating".
I know where the menu options should be as my own bike, which is in the dealers for the dreaded suspension failure and new rear shock!, has heated seats.

Dealer may be able to contact BMW and then you pay for activating the option for heated seat. It's £150 extra (in the UK) for heated seat at the time of speccing a new bike.

Let us know what your dealer says.
