Cooky - just as an aside to the other comments - I have in the past used normal hex sockets for external torx and hex allen keys for internal torx - and been successful on most occasions
The couple of occasions I was unsuccessful - it was a royal pain in the proverbial to get said bolt / screw out once it was stripped - especially the internal type.
If you're planning on doing any further work on your bike - I'd strongly suggest buying a good set of vanadium torx sockets, the gs is littered with them - can't readily think of any non-torx type fixings on it.
It'll be well worth the money - and probably save a lot of heartache
