Adv 350

Excellent (y)

surprisingly good scooters

Out of interest, have you checked your oil level?

my dealer said check it now and then as the smaller engines can use a bit, so far I’ve not used a drop :) think he just wanted to sell me a bottle of oil:D
my 2004 125cc (back in the day) Honda Pantheon, had only started to use oil a bit after 27k miles, I paid £2300 for it brand new. then 7 year later, with 29K on the clock and after throwing it down the road twice, I've still fetched £1100. for it.

I took mine out today with a pillion on it. Quite surprised to find it handled it well. It did dampen acceleration a bit, but the suspension felt better.

Even i thought it was good and i have never ridden a scooter before.

My Burgman didn't use a great deal of oil until she'd covered around 20,000 miles. Now I have to top her up every 500 - 1,500 miles.

Fitted a Fiamm Freeway Blaster horn today.
About half the price of a Stebel Magnum and very similar.
Got it on Amazon for £16.99

Fits straight on.No need to remove any plastics.Took about ten minutes.Only slight faff is the OE cables are a tad short so its a bit fiddly connecting them in a tight space.

Mine arrived this week and it's great fun. Totally effortless to ride and perfect for riding into town and much more. Wish I had more reasons to ride it. Glad I bought it and love the red.

Fitted a Fiamm Freeway Blaster horn today.

Just done the same (based on your recommendation), but found that with the forks turned full left lock, it interfered with the horn. I used the original adaptor plate together with the additional/replacement plate that was included with the Fiamm, took a few extra minutes to set it up and tighten the fasteners, but works just as well at the end.

There is some insulation tape holding the horn wires to another loom a short way back, I carefully sliced through this tape to give a little extra wiggle room for connecting it up. Edges marked in yellow on attached pic in case it helps someone else.

After a test ride today I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before I get one , I did say to myself I won’t get anymore bikes but this is such good fun and so usable I doubt I can resist it
It seams the perfect combination of my old SH125i and DCT Africa twin . I was won over by the twist and go and the 350 is plenty quick enough and goes round corners too .
I guess it’s just down to colour I Was set on the dark grey ( not seen in the flesh yet) but after seeing the cranberry? red one I think I’d be happy with that too . Ideally I’d like to sell a couple of bikes before committing for both space and financial reasons .

indeed its very impressive I was only out for an hour but plenty of time to realise its the right bike for me now. who knew 29hp could be so much fun !! what a laugh I was grinning a lot of that hour and it just seams so easy to live with. :okay:clap:clap:clap

Placed an order for a ADV 350 last week. I am fond of heated grips. Some comments made on how hot the Honda ones get compared to the Oxford brand.

I have used Oxford grips in the past and they have always been more than hot enough. Honda want £200 + £50 fitting. The Oxford I can fit myself, but the controller looks a bit naff. Whilst the Honda heating control blends in with the rest of the switch gear.

Any body care to comment on the Honda fitted grip performance. Thanks.

Before I got my ADV I tried the Honda grips on a second hand machine. They are noticeably cooler than the Oxford ones. I also decided to get the old Oxford’s, the ones with a separate control box. To me it’s not an issue that it’s got the separate little control box. I believe the newer Oxford ones with the built in controls are a bit cooler than the older version as well.

Thanks,

I test rode the BMW C400GT a few months back, both grips and seat were more than adequate heat wise.

I fitted Oxford ones to mine, seems Honda ones are not that warm till they have enough complaints then they get them back in to tweek the settings !!

But isn’t a BMW a lot more money ?
Yes, but the dealership is very close and I've bought too many bikes from them in the past. It seemed rude not to take advantage of a test ride.

Now that raises another issue. Nobody has demonstrators, I'm talking Yamaha and Honda. So I am buying blind with the ADV 350. Yes I've sat on the ADV 350 and the Forza but thats it.

But at around £2000 more it's a big difference. But I did enjoy the test ride and as I said the heated seats and grips were rather a nice addition.

Yes. It’s a bit rubbish not being able to get a test ride. I had the same problem, but it worked out well for me.
how tall are you, and how heavy are you ?
