Adv. Rear Calliper....is it fecked?

Just seperated the Calliper from the carrier and found this corroded slide..borrocks. The bikes an 04, only done 10,000 and kept well clean and tucked up in my shed when not in use. Does it mean a new calliper...?

The slide on the carrier is sound. Must be that the one on the calliper is more exposed to sheite..!

if it were mine, i'd polish the pin up, lash on the HT grease, refit & see if it works ok.

i apreciate that is possibly not what health & safety obsessed types would do but feck it, it's not like you need a back brake anyway :D
 
Take off the build up of crap & post another piccy mate - might not be as bad as it looks.
 
Eye....Can`t hurt I s`pose...will give it a scrape up tomorow and see how it comes up.... :(

Yeah, 5 minutes with some 400 wet and dry and it'll be fine.

Grease it up with waterproof grease or coppergrease (try not to get too much on the pads!) and ensure that the rubber boot seal properly (I haven't done this for a while - but I'm pretty sure there is a rubber johnny in here somewhere).

I'd be interested to know if you can buy just the pin.

I've had a LOT worse caliper pins than that - Kawa GT750 - and just greased em and used 'em.

Although it was outside all its life and couriered all year round - not 2 yrs old and pampered. :mmmm

Reeeeeesult........got a new `un under warranty...!

Let that be a warning. Always make sure your shafts well lubed up...... :D
