Next stupid question I am afraid.. Is my 1100GS an adventure or not.. When i bought it I was told it had adventure wheels.. I have been looking at accessories which stae either adventure model or not..seats for example.. How do I recognise what model it is please? :nenau

BMW never made an 1100 Adventure. The first Adventure was for the 1150.

The 1100 always had spoked wheels as did the 1150, it was only with the advent of the 1200 that non-spoked wheels were offered.

Aha.. many thanks for the prompt reply.. I am sure there will be more stupid questions in the near future as I get to know my new machine!! :beerjug:

Ask away - I bought one of the first 1100GSs in 94 and loved it so much I bought another one just as the 1150 came out in 99 - did about 80,000 miles between them, never had any troubles, great bikes;)

I have to say that following loads of sports bikes and old Brits this bike is an absolute beauty.. I have only done 60 miles in the bitter freezing cold but i loved it.. Never thought I would praise heated grips!!

Have a look at HERE
(The website is micapeak if that link don't work). You should find plenty of info on your 1100 and other models in the GS range. Has your bike got dark purple/black coloured rims? If so that may be what the seller was refering to by adventure wheels.
If you intend to ride in the cold and think heated grips are great you should give some muffs a go. You can ride in sub zero temperatures with thin summer gloves on and have toasty hands all day:thumb2

Yep.. that's the wheels... thanks for the tips.. may well give them a try :thumb2
