Can anyone tell me whether you can adjust the rear shock on a gsa to make the seat slightly lower??

Would different aftermarket shocks make a difference?

Well, you can wind down the preload and lower things if you're a short arse. However, this would affect the handling. This is on non-ESA suspension.

Cheapest solution is the low seat.

No not a short arse....Went to the bike show last week and sat on a few adv and I could touch the floor flat footed on them but alas cant on mine.

So was wondering what it would be that made those lower??

Non esa model, '56 plate.
 
I was told by Balderstons, that putting standard GS shocks on a GSA lowers it

But.

1. Can't be done with the ESA suspension
2. Costs best part of £900 :eek:

I went for the cheaper Touratwat Kahedo low seat option meself :thumb2
 
I had a similar dilemma going from a stock 2004 model R1200GS with Wilbers to a 2008 model R1200GSA with ESA. I have a 29" inseam.

I took a third option:

Problem solved by having the stock seat narrowed, a little thickness removed and a gel pad fitted, and the front built up with more foam and gel then the stock cover refitted. The narrowing made the greatest difference as the stock seat was too wide across the groin area.

Fits like a glove and I can almost get both feet down unless the road is very cambered.

Non esa model, '56 plate.

My guess would be it is how the bikes are clamped at the show. Older bikes should be lower as they wear. The only variables are seat and suspension.

Take the pre-load out of the rear shock,adjust the front shock on to it's lightest setting,replace the GSA seat with the standard GS seat (500mm thinner) fill the bags with some gear.

In time the shocks will settle in (springs loosen up).
I went from tippi-toeing to flat foot in about a year,12,000 miles.

500mm thinner, are you sure??
 
You can also get shorter springs for both ESA and std suspensions from Hyperpro.

The rear spring is a doddle but the front is a bit more involved cos the tank has to come off.

I bought mine from the importer Performance parts who are really helpful on the phone, I would suggest giving them a ring for advice.

yea and spend 12000 miles riding a shti handling bike,also the springs wont loosen up,do you mean sag a little? dont think so,mind you im not a septic full of burgers:D

..loosen up/sag...same difference :comfort

take some pre-load out adjust the rebound and you'd be surprised....handles quite well actually...
42K+ on my stockers and still work fine..
