When I went to trade in my R850GS, they'd stopped making Standard 1150 GS's. I rode the 1200 but didn't like it.

Anyway, I came on here for help, not to argue the toss!

Ive got an 05 adventure I am 5'7 have a 30inch inside leg. got the lower seat and had that lowered by 1 1/2 inches by the dealer. I dont have any problems riding the bike or should i say stopping the bike. I used to sh*t myself about stopping, but i have got used to the weight now and i just put one foot down as apposed to two feet on tippy toes.

Bill i would say try and get used to just putting your right foot down only and get the low seat lowered before you shell out on mods for the bike. With luggage and the wife on i can get both feet down no probs and have no bother.

I've got an Adventure.
I've decided that it's too tall for me and I'm pissed off with dropping it!
I've already got the lower seat but my legs are still too short!

My question is, is the ordinary 1150 shock absorber shorter than the Adventure one, and if it is, can it be fitted to the Adv?
Other than that, what can i do to lower the bike?

garry glitter style platform boots (dyed black of coarse)would`nt wont to draw attention to them.2" platform should do the trick i reckon. {sorry bill had a drink}

Sorry but I've lost the plot here! What's the point of buying an ADV and then swopping the wheels for smaller alloys and putting on standard height GS shocks? You may as well buy a standard GS.!

Plot is if you want a new 1150 you can't have one EXCEPT for an Adventure.

bill, joking aside, the best thing you can do is to fit the standard GS shocks, you will also find the bike's handling a lot better.
