ADVENTURER SCREEN, HELP !!!

I want to put the adventurer screen on my 06 GS and I have been told by my local dealer that this would cost between £700 and £800 to do the job "properly". They told me that if you do not buy the full conversion kit the oil cooler/ frame could crack.

I am sure i have seen plenty of people on the forum who have done this conversion for approx £250. Has anyone had any problems with it and does anyone have the part numbers i require to do the cheaper conversion.

GJ - I took the even cheaper route. Tall screen from Nippy - about £80, plus Nippy's winglet thingies at about £25.

Works a dream.

There have been plenty of people out there (myself included) who have fitted the adventure screen to a standard 1200GS with no problems at all. The extra weight of the Adv screen is supported by the bracing strut that comes with the screen. Your dealer seems to be misinforming you.

The Adventure screen on a standard GS

There is absolutely no problem here. I bought all the bits 6 months ago , including the deflectors, for around 400€ and it is all easy to fit. The deflectors don't have the support that is there on the Adventure but they seem to manage without, with just fat washers underneath. The original screws with knurled knobs for adjusting the rake of the screen will just be long enough but I bought the longer ones so that the dome nuts can be fitted on the end and there is no danger of the screws loosening off too far.
There has been plenty written about this including a list of ALL parts required. It looks right on the bike and it does make a real difference AND everything is standard BMW parts.

Hi, I have had the adventure screen and winglets on the bike for about 8000 miles now with no ill effects whatsoever. It is a simple mod to do yourself and it makes the bike sooooo much better. Also tried the Nippy Normans screen and IMO it is not a patch on the Adventure screen. You definitly get what you pay for. Have a look at this thread to see pics.
