the schuberth system c2 gets my vote I love mine do a search on my posts & there is an update on what I reckon of it

phew I was begining to think I was the only one!!

I bought a sport integral last year for the comfort. I thought my aria qf was comfortable if a bit noisy but the s i is far better.
First time on the road with it I couldn't believe how quiet it was.
I wear soft fx ear plugs as well which have the higheast db rating wind noise it practicaly non existant. Mp3 and digital radio is very clear due to the reduced wind noise.
I've also a uvex,nitro800,and quantum f but now my first choice is the sport integral whether I'm on the gs or blackbird.

Another vote for the Roof Daytona from me, light very very quiet and an excellent lid.

I have replace it with an Arai tour X which is noisey and not a good a fit, the air flows over the screen and under the peak of the lid if i sit up straght which is a real twat.

Roof all the way i think that the Arai will become my spare...!

In my experience all helmets are noisy whatever make you choose. Recently I've tried BMW, Arai and Schoei and tbh they're all much of a muchness as far as noise goes.

The bottom line is

ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS WEAR EARPLUGS

unless you want to end up with tinnitus (and believe me you don't!)

Don't even vaguely think that your helmet is going to protect you from wind noise. It won't. It doesn't matter what plugs you wear as long as you're comfortable with them. I use moulded plugs because I find them the most comfortable and easy to use but foam will do the job effectively.

Comfort is the key here. Choose your helmet for comfort not noise.

hth :D

I did notice quite a difference between an schuberth concept

And a Shoei Syncrotec

The schuberths vent at the top drove me mad with the noise.. The helmet itself was very comfy but the noise

Shoei's Syncrotec was a lot quieter and about the same for comfort.. But I think the Shoei looks better..I did like the flip down tinted visor in the schuberth concept but the look is a bit like a power ranger and not suited to a GS rider...more an RT look IMO. :)

I'm with Tuned In on the noise with the Schuberth - although I think quite a bit of it has to do with all the gubbins on the outside of the helmet around the ears. There are a couple of little lugs on the visor to allow you to pop it forward and back for ventilation when needed and I think those cause a bit of turbulence which the visor clips and slider on the left make worse. Just can't ride in the Schuberth without ear plugs.

On my latest Concept visor, the hollow lugs have been replaced by redesigned solid ones - I'm sure the visor is quieter as a result.

I seem to remember someone (Bilko??) telling me that they'd filled the hoolow lugs with clear silicone and that had cut down the noise a lot...

Mike:)

Sport Integral plus earplugs. Absolutely, definitely the quietest I have tried.

ROOF 010 with ear plugs, nice, quiet 'n comfy and good anti-mist qualities too. Downside? Yes, the rear top vent rattles, so I put a small piece of black electrical tape on it. Marks out of 10........... 9 (TOP VENT!) :beerjug:

Asking myself the same question and looks like a Roof Diversion is on the cards.
On the Tour X I've finally sorted all the buffeting by jamming a half round piece of CE impact foam between peak and lid (set between the top vents). Lowered the stock screen on its Tobinators to a rakish angle and buffeting gone...but now I notice its too bloody noisy on long trips , so new lid

Why a new lid? If the helmet is comfortable then earplugs should sort out the noise. As I've said before, don't ride without earplugs. It's just not worth it.....

Got to be the Arai RX7

Had ( and will be getting another) one of these.

Saved my life already. Something about them that I trust and they have some kind of extra protection in the chin part.

Wear ear plugs too.

Here's what my last one did to a Fiesta. Note the roof line . My prized 916 did the rest.

Skippy.

F****** hell Skippy, you're lucky to be alive. Was the car driver injured?.

Arai for me every time. Ive got an RX7 RR4 (+ earplugs) and when it needs replacing it'll be whatever is the top of Arais range. A few years ago, a colleague of mine who is an accident investigator went to a testing facility. Apparently Arai always provided the best protection in an impact. I have a Shoei Syncrotech 2 for work as I need a flip lid so it was that or the rather ugly BMW system lid but IMO an Arai is the one to have.

The new KBC flip front is coming out very soon. Looks great, well made with a washable liner and it's designed so that the visour can be up at high speed. If it's anything like the other KBC helmets it will be very well made and affordable. I've got one on order.

Concept C2 or System V............................
Still haven't decided which to buy. Flip-ups seem an ideal compromise when you stop for a quick smoke and a drink at a layby or underpass.

God will decide on the day which I choose. And in so doing, protect me from the rigours of uncertainty.

It seems the problems of wind noise (with or without earplugs) and not overall head protection is the deciding factor. Unless you smash head-on into a brick wall, most expensive helmets give good protection to the head. Pity the neck is the weakest point.

Just to labour the point!

OK I know Shoei came top in the RiDE ?? survey/test but that takes price into account too.

Why didn't they test the RX7 Corsair!!! Would have been a clear winner in my book.

The test they did with a sharp pointy thing was a revelation too with the Arais they did test all getting a 10.

The System 4 wasn't too clever! and a number of the flip fronts seem to be a bit of a risk.

Skippy.

Have a caberg with flip front but not very impressed with either the noise or that, at 60 mph, the visor slams shut in my face.

Also find that it mists up unless partially open and the top vent kust lets rain drip in.

Looking for a new lid so these comments have been really helpful.

Don't think I'll buy a flip front again though.

Schuberth S1

Just swapped my System 4 for a Schuberth S1 for the reason of wind noise. The difference in noise is amazing. I t has a full chin and neck guard which is effective in cutting out noise and has oneof the lowest Db ratings of all helmets on the market. RiDE Magazine rated it highly had the lowest impact score of all the helmets tested! Twas another reason to change.
