Hi Tim
We met at the off rds skills course last yr i helped you pick up your bike when you damaged your anckle.
I am planning a trip late march early aprill to morocco come in at ceuta would like to go down through the rif mts thought of going through ketama down to taza have read that this could be doggy? if so can you advise on other routes down to Azrou down to erg chebbi back up to todra/dades gorges off piste doing this as a single looking to meet up with others along theway can you advise

best regards mick

Two years ago I took a group through Ketama and down to Azrou in one days ride from Ceuta, there were a few occasions when we felt intimidated.

As you are travelling alone I would advise against this route and head down through Meknes to Azrou.

As a suggestion;
to Marrakech via Cascades d'Ouzoud
to Quarzazate via Tizi n Tichka and piste through Telouet and Ait Benhaddou.

Then turn left and a multitude of pistes awaits you:)

Hi Mick.
I'm also doing a solo trip to Morocco ,leaving for Bilbao on the 26th March.
I'm heading Throught the Riff towards Ouazzane on the N13.I will be staying just south of Ouazzane for my First night's stop.
Then north of Midelt for the 2nd Night Before I start the Off road sections making my way down to Zagora.
I would love to ride the N8 from Ketama, but I will take the advise everyone give's in that this area of Morocco, where they seem to grow all the "Hash"
can be a bit on the Dodgie side,so I would only ride it if in a group .
Have a Good Ride.

I rode the Rif a couple of weeks ago *alone* as an experiment to see whether things are any better. If anything they are worse. I will write up my experiences shortly, but my advice is to ignore the area totally.

I would stick to main roads in northern Morocco (Ceuta, Chefchaouen, Meknes, etc) and take it steady until you understand the traffic patterns. For me, Morocco only starts at the lattitude of El-Hajeb/Imouzzer as the roads rise towards the Middle Atlas.

The giant loop down to Erg Chebbi, then the Todra is what most people attempt but involves a lot of riding days. There's a lot of really good stuff in the triangle Azrou - KasbaTadla - Midelt which would give you more of a true experience of the country.
