I am adding a handlebar adaptor to my F800GS adventure. Can anyone tell me the torque setting for the clamps? Cannot find it in riders manual but thinking about 23/25nm?

M8 x 1.25 (usually a 6mm allen head or a 13mm spanner) is usually around the 25nm

So you are not far off

Obsessed with torques

I used to be obsessed with torques when doing some maintanance on my bike. And surely it is a good objective indication how things should be tightened.
There are various places on the bike, where the proper torq has to be applied, so there is not to much or too little strain in the material.
I would say, that handlebars are not one of it, so you can even tighten it a bit more is you are unsure of the exact value.

It happened to me, that I have snapped a thread in the engine block when I was mounting on a crashbars and tightening it according to the torq. This would have not happened, if I would do it just according to my feel. So now more and more I "tighten until is tight".
You will get quite a good feeling for variuos types of bolt and what is approprite torq to get them tight.

Thank you for all your replies, all my extra bits from touratech uk turned up this morning so have a lot of bits to switch over and adjust:D.
