advice please

I have been offered a 1200GS at what I think is a very good price, it is on a 54 plate with 2000 miles on the clock, it's a private sale so there is no warranty on the bike. I need my bike to be reliable should i go for an 1150 or should the 1200 be ok? I an just worried about final drive and gearbox isues or am i just worrying uneccesarily?

Should come with the remainder of the Two year Warranty. May help you with your decision

Warranty covers bike for 2 years, 54 plate should be covered until at least September 2006

Ah yes - the joys of getting the proposal past the DIC (Domestic Investment Committee).

As stated previously, there will be the balance of the manfuacturer's warranty, and then this can be extended (at the exhorbitant rate of 650 Blairos).

As reported - any balance left on the manuf warranty should be transferred to you as the new owner.

You are just worrying unnecessarily - if it is a bargain, looks clean and looked after and has a fsh I'd buy it before someone else does. There are no more reliability issues on the 1200 than on the 1150 imho

Hi Tom. I have a 54 (jan 05) 1200 (fast red) I've never had any problembs or breakdowns. I've done 6800+ miles.

Could do with a bigger tank though, only getting 220 to reserve

Great bike, glad I went for the 12 over the 1150. But I would have liked the alli boxes.

The 1200GS is just as reliable (or unreliable) as the 1150GS. Difference is that lots more ex Jap bike riders are buying the 1200GS and expecting (but not getting) Jap levels of reliability.

£6500 is cheap if it's in good condition (should be with only 2k on the clock) If you don't like it you could sell it on Ebay for more than that I've not seen one go for less than £6900 on Ebay - usually with more miles and more than one owner. There is a card in the warranty book which you fill in and post off to transfer the balance of the warranty into your name.
