Advice regarding crash bars please

Cheeky , its got Remus ... Had to make a decision .. new Bentley or Akra .... They expensive to run don't you know :comfort :ChrisKelly

Interesting that you can fit the Akra carbon heat shield with the Remus headers, but not with the Akra headers.:blast

Or is there a huge gap behind it, where all the gubbins are on the standard system?

I think it was Touratech , check on Nippys , it does make a difference for me as I find the standard a little short

Yeah me too. I have to almost turn my foot in to be able to press the rear peddle. I'l have a look on Nippy's. Thank you.

I'm sure the Remus and the Akra have the same design so the shield fits the same , all the gubbins has gon , I try to take a close up.

I have the Machine Art head covers same as Stick, I think they look good on the T/Blk

However I still have a set of brand new unused BMW engine bars that I purchased with my new E4 Triple Black in September 2016.

I think that the BMW OEM bars are good in that they are engineered to flex and spring back into shape after a fall, this helps absorb some of the shock from hammering the bike's chassis. If you see a GS-LC that's been dropped with the BMW bars, you will see a small register mark on the cambox cover from where the rubber buffer mounted on the bars has made contact with the cyl head and then sprung back. I've seen this but thankfully not on my own bike. The mark can cleaned off after the event.
However although I purchased both guards and covers, I prefer the look of the bike in just the M/Art covers.

So, I'll be happy to flog my new bars if you want them, they are still in the box.

PM me if interested.

Confused

So which cylinder protectors fit with the factory crash bars on the GSA ...?

After using my bike green laning and seeing how easily the cylinders mark when dropped ... Think I need something before a rock puts a hole through them !!!

Also ... Trust me .. The crash bars don't bounce back ... Mine stayed against the cylinders until I took them off and got a scaffolding bar to straighten them
And I've seen a few demo bikes with the same issue !!!

The BMW ones will, as well as the machine art covers.:thumb

Machine Art cover and BMW bars, plenty of room.

On the GS-LC that I saw, the bars had flexed back in to their original position, but there was a tell-tale black mark on the cambox lid where the rubber bump stop had made a firm contact, and sprung back.

Incidentally there were also grazing makes across the underside of the cambox which proves that the engine bars alone won't fully protect the cover from damage in the event of a low speed slide.

The bike in question was a rent bike at the Enzian in Austria and was still being used.

This is well worth a look https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IuXQs5lRrKk

I didn't realise Michael Douglas worked at MAM.:D

Ha Ha...that's what you call having confidence in your product!

Machine art gear is excellent stuff, but I would not want to test it like that...Ouch!

Gutsy move :thumb2
