So i've gone to reset my abs today (1150gs - 2002 model) seems like a yearly reset. I did the thing with the wire from the cylinder shaped thing under the front seat (dont know what thats called) and pressing the abs for 8 seconds but used the wrong wire from the cylinder thing using the red wire by mistake. That caused a short spark now my bike wont start. It will turn over but not fire up so any advice. Would this be the fuel pump relay shorted. All the fuses look ok. Normally when you turn the bike on there is a short noise prior to pressing the start button which i always thought was the fuel pump but there is no noise now when you turn the ignition on. I have tried swapping the horn relay for the fuel pump relay but made no difference. cheers

It's called a diagnostic connector.

You probably mean the red wire with the yellow tracer. :nenau

Check Fuse 5.

Ian

thanks for your answer but all fuses are ok any other ideas

Nope!

Your symptoms and the actions you took indicate that the Fuse 5 (10amps) is the most likely failure.

If it’s not the fuse, then you may will have fused a wire somewhere, and the fault is more serious.

Ian thanks mate you were right it was fuse 5. it looked ok as did the replacement i tried but it wouldnt work so I thought it was something else but Ive just brought some new fuses and fitted a new one to fuse 5 and it works. cheers mate.

Sometimes the fuses can have a hairline crack which visually they look OK. It’s even possible on some of the cheaper brand of fuses that flex enough when fitting, that they break. Both these have happened to me in the past. Which can be frustrating.

Anyway

Glad too see you’re sorted
