My tyres on my R1250GS will need changing soon . The bike will never go off road what’s your advise on new tyres road pilot 5 has been mentioned all help appreciated thanks

Road 5 or Roadtec-01 - you won’t go wrong.

Road tyres that should put a smile on your face and good for 5,000 miles

I would disagree as the PR 5 are prone to wear , and the RT01 weave when pushed under braking , the CTA 3 had non of these issues .

Try the Roadtecs I will be surprised if you are disappointed

Buy a tyre that is appropriate for what you want to use it for

If all your going to do is road ride , buy a road biased tyre

Although you could ask the question ..if you bought an adventure bike and dont go off road, then why didn't you just buy a sports bike or a sports tourer ;)

I've had trailriders on my Hexhead and Wethead, brilliant tyres wet or dry

Good pint , but the GS is all that you need , better than a Sport Touring / sports as it’s a great comfortable, capable bike in all conditions, if you chose to go off road or not I don’t as I use an enduro bike , but that’s just for fun on the occasional day . More road bias tyres tend to have low wear markers (front) and will not last that well as the Gs / gsa is a heavy bike and combined with the suspension it causes more wear on the front if you ride with spirt . Cta3 for example had a deeper tread and will last longer and is a brilliant road tyre that rewards .

You could ask the same question of me ? and the answer would be "if I could find a Road bike I liked to ride as much , I would have"

I would disagree with regards the RT01, a brilliant tyre IMHO. However tyres are a subjective topic everybody has an opinion as to what tyre is best, everyone's riding style is different and therefore they will have their own idea as to what is best. Do a bit more digging on here and then make your choice only you will know in the end if it was the right one or not.

Ride Adventure Tyre Test Nov 2019

I fitted Pirelli Scorpion Trail II. Great improvement on Tourance Next I had before. Noticeable that 3 top tyres quite close, & 3 bottom tyres close. Mich R5T not tested

I am very pleased with my Roadtec 01......

The PST is a fantastic feely tire, one of my favourites, not the outright grip of the CTA or PR5, although you will have to ride real hard to find the difference, unlikely to be found in the UK.

Thanks everyone for advice much appreciated thread closed
