Sorry if I missed it but you get to ride the earlier DCT and if so what differences do you notice when riding, I know the new version has more options ?

I owned the original AT DCT in 2016.
The DCT fitted to the ATAS and I assume the latest AT is the next generation up.The stand out feature is the auto-blipper, which is addictive.
It works in auto mode but especially in manual.
Come stonking into, say a 2nd gear bend and as you change down from say 5 to 4 to 3 to 2, you'll get a a very small blip in revs 5-4, slightly more 4-3 and a great healthy blip 3-2.It really does seem to help with the engine breaking, especially with EB set to 1 (out of 3).Don't think I've used the front brake at all yet, apart from coming to a halt !

For me, the DCT takes the ATAS and makes it almost perfect for my needs. It just needs cruise and possibly a better screen, but I had no issues with a similar set up on my old bike.I've ordered a Kaoko throttle lock anyway, but probably won't be doing any long autoroute schleps on it in any case as I'm taking the 1290 to Asturias in a few weeks, as can't get the ATAS ready in time (first service/luggage etc).

Cheers considering upgrading , I`ll borrow it and get it ready for first service

Honda have really listened , then sorted out the few gripes on the original AT.

The spokes are now stainless , the 5 stage grips get hot. The tank on the ATAS seems good for 280 miles plus reserve .
The screen, bar and seat combo are pretty much the same as I had on the AT with tall seat/tall screen and Rox Risers. But the seat seems much more padded than before .

The OE exhaust is pretty neat and very fruity . Dunno how it passed noise regs but I won’t be changing it.

I like the new display with added modes/torque and engine braking settings . The latter is especially good paired up with the autoblipper .

The handling is even better than the original AT. The suspension feels both firmer and plusher, if that makes sense and it has real poise and balance . You can stay feet up down to a standstill and even balance it much further than any previous bike I’ve had .
The gear changes are even smoother than before -great for carrying a pillion .

Even with the shite Dunlops and just 2 days of local riding, the chicken strips are as good as gone .

Finally ,for me, in ATAS form it’s by far the best looking adventure bike out there . The paint is gorgeous and the overall finish is top notch . Makes a GS look very over-designed, IMHO of course !! Not to even mention the price comparison !!

Think this one will be a keeper , at least until they upgrade it again with cruise etc.

Last pic,promise !!

I was out for brek this morning and parked up next to a Plastic Pig, so had to take a photo.
I think even Engineer would have to concede that the best adventure bike on the market is much easier on the eye than the best marketed adventure bike !
And why do BMW sell the GS in any colour so long as it’s a shade of dreary and drab ?

Black GSA is ok but AT needs tri-colour.
Rest of GS/A colour choice is drab !! Brown, dull blue etc ....

Went to have a little play on an AST today....... fail......... my long legs will not fit into the Tank dents meaning my legs are spread too wide giving me instant hip ache....... tried the "smaller" version and as My Arsey has pointed out already the ergonomics on the AST are SOOOOOO much better - just a shame about the tank.... tried the seat on high and low to no avail.......
