Africa Twin is coming

JB agreed in full Im thinking 2016 could be a good year for the adventure bike market again but this time the manufacturers building better bikes with more power and more on them to compete for our business, like I said ill wait with deposit paid till I read all the reports then start breaking the ceramic pigs open !!

Dunno....:nenau

If we all adopt that kind of thinking, well, we'd all end up keeping an 1150 dinosaur forever......:aidan

Better that, than riding an overpriced £11500 new 1000cc Honda pseudo trail bike, which will be eclipsed by BMW and KTM, who 'own' that market space:augie

MMMMM ok Ill agree with that one, I think the AT has been so long in the making and with all the hype it does really need to be bloody good that's for sure, the Crosstourer is a good bike ive had 2, but maybe a bit soulless, I don't mean by that because it don't go into gear properly its got character I mean it does everything really well it seems to be just a bit too linier if there's such a thing !! a but too predictable and assured ?, if I had to buy a bike to commute 20k per year it would be right up there on the list, of course with the Versys 1000 LOL

Guy on Advrider who lives in France just ordered his. Works out @ £9,791 for the manual with the tricolour (white) paint.

Whatever happens to buying a bike 'you like'?

Why does it have to fit into some sort of category invented by a marketing department?

Now my thinking on your Crossrunner query is this.

The Crossrunner is a variation of an existing model sharing many parts with the VFR. So production costs have been paid for many times over giving how long Honda have had the basic architecture in place. But the Crossrunner that is available in the UK is different to the ones available elsewhere. In the rest of Europe, it does not come with the GPS/centre stand/top box/Akro pipe that Honda UK supply (and costs approx £9,170 in Germany). And the reason Honda UK bring in this specced up model is because of the slow sales of the original model, they basically sexed it up to make it more desirable. But then it is more expensive in the UK and not like Honda UK are actually doing customers a favour in real terms and giving the extras away for nothing. So in reality, the price of the Crossrunner in the UK is out of kilter and therefore that brings us back to how the AT will be priced in the UK market. Logically, it should sit between the Crossrunner and Crosstourer price wise. But that logic could be seen as flawed considering what I've pointed out with the UK Crossrunner.

But this is just my thinking and is why I'll never be employed to make decisions on how much products are sold for. :beerjug:

100% agree which is partly why I asked the question. IMHO the Crossrunner should really be a bit cheaper as Honda should have recouped development costs for that V4 years ago + all the parts sharing with the VFR road bike? Adding 'value' with the list of extras as standard is a good way of shifting units as many customers would add most of these themselves anyway (optional centre stand on such a bike is taking the pee anyway) and 'bundling' them appears good value to the buyer.

However , Honda will present the AT above the Crossrunner in their range therefore one can surely expect it to be more expensive when the prices are released . :nenau:

Spot on Andres. I wasn't looking for a Crosstourer , it's not the 'best' bike in its class , the press seem to ignore it as do many buyers but my Camo one came for sale locally and when I saw it I just liked it ....... So I bought it. :thumb

This thread is no longer a great source of insight and excitement about the new AT. It's been watered down through un emotional talk about un emotional bikes.

When I think about the AT I imagine roads and dirt and fun and those thoughts are going to stay with me until it's on the road and trails - talking about the price is for soul suckers

Based upon what?

The original AT??

Surely you can't be serious???

One of the most mundane, soul sucking bikes yet made by Honda :)

Never a fan myself either. I preferred the Yamaha option. ;)

The new AT is possibly what Yamaha should have developed the original Super Ten in to. :thumb2

BTW....at the NEC this year, chum ?

The advantage of using the 1200 ADV every day is when you get out on the 80g/s it feels so nimble. I had a lovely ride last Sunday, it's a fantastic feel good bike.
