Africa Twin is coming

.......................

For me , I'd rather play with my children after returning home ....rather than lubricating chains! So I'm happy with the GS.

9,000 miles, 150bhp and I've adjusted/cleaned my chain, oh, at least three times. Other than that a quick squirt of lube once a week (takes all of two minutes).

Why do people bang on about how crap chains are, I really don't get it?

Was the last chain driven bike they rode back in the 80's or something 'cos they've come on shed loads since then.

Oh, and if I were you and still had kids at home I'd relish any excuse to escape into the garage.....................

Here's a picture of some pretty chains for you as I know how much you like pictures :)

Lines become long and smooth, I find the bike follows my eyes with a sort of weighty momentum like the tail of a stunt kite, does that make sense ?!!

I'm disturbed that you're showing thespian signs, using elaborate and fancy examples - Beware its a slippery slope, next you'll joining your local amateur dramatics society, then you'll be describing yourself as an actor and before you know it you'll be claiming that some random bloke that brushed past you in a railway station rammed three fingers up your arse :D

:D

I thought it was a very good description ......

Quite right
I've been on courses varying from natural horsemanship run by a top rodeo rider to an alarmingly flexible woman running yoga workshops, they all use phrases to enhance their guru like status, generally to impress young girls, but it simply doesn't wash here :D

Obviously been on poncey photographic courses covering poncey water shoots too ......

love it ! you are quite right !

I would love to have one of these but...
Closer inspection shows a difference between all the pictures - is it round, oval, trapezoid or photoshopped? Black cover over cat or not?
And their phonetic spelling !isa makin me madda!"

The Termi does look good apart from the fixing bracket which IMO looks over-designed. Why do they insist on mounting it so steeply too when a travel bike is going to be fitted with luggage. Lower would be better and it's no issue in water unless the rider lets the engine die.

I've been bitching about the stupid mufflers pointed skyward for years. BMW and KTM are among the worst, it's simply "sporty style" before function just like the non-mudguards.

crossing water ..... ??!! (Its an adventure bike after all ..... )

Oops!! Just saw Packers Post!!

I stand by what I think though .... Tough, world trotting bike that can be waded through rivers .... :thumb2

It's not really necessary for water crossings but does severely restrict luggage capacity on one side. A lot of sport bikes as well as plain standards with 17" wheels have 45+ degree up angled exhausts as well.

Years ago I was speaking with David Robb (who was at the time BMW Motorrad's head of design) at a BMWMOA rally and I posed the question to him, "why are you angling up exhausts so high when it compromises luggage capacity so much?" He said for "off road clearance", to which I replied "look at it it doesn't have to be that high for clearance it could run just below the bag, besides if that were the case why are mufflers now pointing up on street bikes such as the K1200RS and R1150R over there"? He just smiled and said "our customers want the sporty look".
