Hi,

I broke one of the aux lamp units on my GSA when I came off on a fire road. Now bmw want 200 quid for a new set and motorworks don't have any spares in stock.

So what is available as an aftermarket fit that will fit in place of the original units that are nice and bright?

I would rather buy from amazon in the UK if poss as I have vouchers from there.

Thanks

Did you break the main body of the lamp or just the sleeve that it sits in (and bolts to the bar) ??

The outer sleeves can be got individually and are only about 20 quid.

The whole unit was wrecked. Fell to pieces as it bounced down the track

Im not sure what I want really. I really looking for some that are bright and will contribute to the looming effect. They will be on all the time, but I don't ride off road that much :p

I've just bought some Clearwater Kristas for my bike. I already have some Darla's on my Beta Alp.

They are brilliant lights, come with a dimmer switch and full on when on main beam. Not cheap but excellent quality.

BikeVis

Hi

My original aux lights rattled themselves to bits.
As you have found, finding a replacement can be very costly.
I looked around and found these from BikeVis.
They were just over £100 for a pair delivered.
I went for the low wide beam (Fog) that I use for filtering but also do use them instead of main beam as they do put out quite a bit of light.
They also sell a narrow beam spot for use as an additional high beam.

I am very happy with them.

I did do a little write up for the sellers as to how I got on putting them on, which I have copied below:-

The existing auxiliary lights were past their best and the inner lamp sections had become detached from the external casing and were rattling around.
I wanted to keep the existing wiring and switching where possible.
On the GSA the auxiliary lights are fitted to a light bar using welded on bosses.
The original fixings were not suitable for the new LEDs, so I removed them with a hacksaw and filed them down
Leaving the weld on either side created a flat surface for the new LED fixings.
A 6mm hole was drilled in the centre for the bolt, although I need a slightly longer one than supplied.
Since the original wiring had already been replaced and cut about due to corrosion I opted for removing the BMW plugs rather than vice versa.
I cut off the original BMW plugs in a staggered formation, so that when the through crimps were added, the cable wouldn’t bee too bulky at any one point.
I used red through crimps, the ones with added heat shrink and glue in the ends. These are crimped then heated up for a sealed, solid connection.
Prior to adding the crimps I had slid two lengths of heat shrink up the wiring, then once crimped, slid these down and heated them up.
I used two pieces for added protection.
Finally I squirted some ACF50 corrosion block grease in the deutsh connectors and clipped them together, then cable tied the wiring neatly up under the beak.

Did take a few more pictures, but limited to 4 for the upload.

Hope this helps

Best regards
