I managed to dent and break the bracket on the sump guard on my 1250GS after running over a shredded lorry tyre at night (still counting my blessings!), but am looking for any recommendations for an aftermarket alternative. I'm inclined to the Wunderlich which looks better value than Touratech but has anyone bought one, and is it straightforward to fit? It's for on road use only, but even on tarmac there are evidently nasty things waiting to be thrown up to our undersides!

Bought and fitted the Alt Rider bash plate to my MY14.

It was the ONLY one I found that didn't bolt to the engine at any point just to the chassis.

Also it's lovely 5mm aluminium and very long underneath. It will only accept certain front mudguard extensions but does fit my Akrapovic Headers

It's bombproof

I have the SW Motech guard as in the links below. It is also made from 5mm alloy and is very well made and strong.

It has alloy offstand brackets mounted to the engine in the middle and at the front and at the rear, it is fixed to the centre stand mounts.

I have the China version of the Machine Art fender extender and it is well clear of the sump guard.

Below is a link to the fitting instructions which will show you how it is fixed to the engine.

I've got the SW Motech sump plate on my R1250RS - was on back-order but pretty happy with it when it arrived.

The ALT rider one is the one for hard off road use, I have a Twalcom one which has served me well but the ALT rider one is the way to go if you do a lot of off road work, the rest are a much of a muchness really, just depends which you like the look of.
