I have to say..........i think i'm in agreement with trippy.

nothing looks the same to me or is original except the front frame (maybe) and engine (maybe) :nenau

i'm sure someone will pay for it if it does 'it' for them tho.

good luck with the sale though :thumb

£6000. .

this one is worth over the £5,000 mark, many arn't !!!

I have to say..........i think i'm in agreement with trippy.

whatever the highest bidder on ebay is prepared to pay and I would guess that would be somewhere around what Johnnyboxer said.

So whats this bit for ...

:( Oh Trippy.

.i.

We're just discussing the bike and it's value as invited too by the owner.

For argument lets say it'not the original but it is a full blown HPN based desert racer to the same frame, engine, gearbox, suspension and key rally kit design as GR's bike...

What would that be worth?

If you had one built today you'd be looking north of £15,000

So given that this one has some history and seems to be able to claim that at least the frame and engine took GR to victory then I'd say it's got to be worth north of £10,000 to somebody who want's it.

There are plenty of people out there who like to collect stuff and still have the cash -

You could try sticking it on the Hero Legends site or speak to Dave Aleaxandr at BMW and see if he know's of a Mottard deaer who'd like to own/display it

You were also giving a man a good kicking while he's down.

Don't worry......if you don't understand now, you never will, but you don't do yourself many favours sometimes Jim :(

Your right Wreford but I still maintain it's not really a good idea to ask for a discussion by, and a valuation from the people who you
think maybe interested in buying.

If it was mine I would have just picked my price and placed the advert here (Timmys rules) and a link to an ebay listing.

I'll stick with my price of £5000 - £6000.

:(

How?

Syco started a thread asking for discussion and opinion on value.
Was everyone meant to just say £10'000 to £15'000 to make him feel good, I thought he was looking for an idea of its true market value?

I think Trippy's got it spot on :thumb2

If i was selling one of mine
Thats what i would do

If this bike was up for sale 2 weeks ago i would have seriously looked at it....as some of you know i paid a good wedge of folding to get my hpn . Seller of mine was contacted by two people who said if the sale didn`t go through they would take it at the price i paid...someone said that to get hpn to build you one your looking north of 15k..way out my friend , by the time you got it back to the uk i reckon you`d be looking at between 23k-25k , and yes i have done my homework .:augie

good luck with your job , and if you have to sell all the best...:thumb2

In my view, from reading the thread, the posting of the Bike on this Forum has probably decreased its value somewhat.
It has become clear from the information given that the Bike is not what it once was.
To be of any historical “worth” and to maximize its value, the Bike should be sympathetically restored and returned to the 1984 “Penthouse” Bike.

As it is, its does not have a market value, (as would a Basic, a Paris Dakar, or even a retail HPN Bike), apart from what EBay or other auction will pay

Cheers

No he wasn`t. :rob

Trippy made some very valuable and considered comments regarding the bike`s pedigree, current status and real world value.

I..and others...agree with what he said.

Don't worry......if you don't understand now, you never will, but you don't do yourself many favours sometimes Jim :(

Pot and kettle methinks.

YOUR comment was nothing more than a personal dig, irrelevent and inflammatory into the bargain.

Best you keep out of this Thread as you can`t offer anything constructive.

Well I thought so Tark's.

It's why I don't post much these days.

Stick it back in the garage, lock the doors, give the keys to someone else and devote your energies to putting your CV together and getting the f*** out of the bad job situation you're in.

Forget selling the bike.

Forget any half-arsed plans for revenge on your colleagues (cold or otherwise). It's a waste of energy and, even if you succeed, any good feeling will be short-lived.

Get yersell another job as soon as possible.

However, I know this thread asked what is the value of your bike, so I'll answer the question. If you really want and need to sell it, my gut feel says any price approaching £10k and above would be taking the p*ss, but where below that is up to you. I agree with others - decide what it's worth to you and stick it in FS&W and see what happens.

But I still think you're taking too many snap decisions at once. Deal with work first.

Totally agree with this poster - and I am a little concerned at the bickering in other posts
Simons and his family is the main concern
Then the bikes price and condition
Simon has asked for opinions I know but when some others seem to ask for opinions on similar bikes all they get is great one's - how's that work on this site
My mate Jaber got slated when selling his bike - not long after similar bike got rave reviews

I bet if some "others" had this bike they would be wanting top dollar for it !!!

Simon I wish you the best of luck with the sale - start with a very good reserve price - I am not good enough a rider to do it justice - or tall enough

I would sell a kidney to own that bike! If it does come available please email me first at email removed... you need to sponsor to do stuff like that Tuned

I currently have:

1969 R60/2
1981 R80GS, R100 motor, double plugged, factory PD tank.

Which Dakar Rally was this? Sorry I'm a bit confused. The bike seems to be Marlboro marked [although the Playboy markings are currently missing] and looks different from the 1984 / 1985 winners. :blast

Back to the beer :beerjug: which probably isn't helping my observation skills

Sycomoto, the bike looks the bees knees :thumb2. I too would consider buying it.

PS most R80 / R100 don't look anything like they started out these days

PPS Forget selling it yet, sort your job out first. You will regret making a rash decision :rob

if you have been the proud owner for some years now, it maybe a good time to move it on, you have enjoyed the bike, now sell it, on ebay and watch it fly again .:thumb

I could not agree more, you've had your fun, now it is my turn!

Beautiful bike.

Stuff like what? and what is "Tuned"? The gentleman is offering a bike for sale, or at least thinking about it and I simply provided my email address should he wish to contact me. So I need to be a sponsor before I can offer to buy someone's bike??
