thats an interesting smugmug you've got there - care to elaborate on the rest of the vehicles ?
surely they aren't all yours ?

No, they aren't, except the RS200 and the BMW 320 Turbo, I take care of the collection for a private owner, the bikes though, also are mine.
I have been very fortunate in a few deals and luckily have a very cool boss who lets me keep my stuff at work.

You have a wonderful, special bike there. You are also very lucky to be its caretaker. As for value, it's whatever someone is willing to pay which considering it's history could be susbstantial. I would love to own it, so much so that I built this...

So I could get the feeling that I did.
I may be interested in buying it if you are still willing to sell it.

Let me add my 2d ( 2c :D ) worth and say it is absolutely stunning; a work of art !! :thumb2

And despite lots of "ooh thats lovely" and "I would buy it if I could" from both sides of the water there is only one person who has £6000 on the table if Syco wants to sell.

You are wrong and I have the dosh if if the bike is for sale, it is only your who lacks bollocks my friend.

What are you f*cking talking about, lack bollocks to do what?

Someone in this country has offered £6000 if Syco sells it, how much would you pay for it then?

Is the Bike for sale?.......I think not? - I PMed the owner early on and have not had a reply - so as they say on Dragons Den "I'm out" - it is just a "tease"

..............can we start another "valuation" thread - this one is getting a little silly

How much do you reckon my R80 mono is worth, 25,000 miles, full history, nursed since new and totally original apart from the battery and tyres. In "as new" condition....to me it is a far better Bike than the subject of this thread

R80_prof.jpg

Most of you will value the Bike at £2,500, maximum
What I have found in the past is if you generally add 30% to 50%, (and sometimes 100%), to the average valuation on here you usually get to the market value of the Bike if sold in the right market.......and I have bought and sold quite a few Bikes...........

That's nice:thumb

This 'valuation' stuff is nearly always bollix (which I assume is why the 'what's it worth section' was scrapped?).

Sellers and owners of the same model / type will always overvalue and 'talk up' the value.

Potential buyers and those with other axes to grind will undervalue and 'talk down' the value.

The only certainty is that you'll never get a reliable answer on a web forum. You find out the value when someone gives you a handful of £20's

An airhead offroad special

Which was bought by Wreford

I can tell you that they have very limited appeal(in the real world) and you'll have ten times more buyers for a more orthodox example of the species

Whilst I never actually put mine up for general sale and had to go through this bollox, Wreford approached me when I had no intention of selling with a fair, realistic & decent offer and I thought yep, I might wait a while for someone to actually put their money down, the money was in my bank within 10 minutes of us putting the phone down and he collected the bike a week later, having never ridden the beast.....................so I sold with no regrets and it's gone to a better home now:thumb

Sound fella, Wreford:thumb and he's putting the best airhead special in these parts to good use

Valuations - I reckon that Bike is worth between £5,500 and £7,000 depending on the "time of the month" and condition when sold.......as Johnny said value of "specials" fluctuate widely

I knew it before Johnny bought it and before John, (SPC), bought it from Holland, (but via Germany I think?)

How about £10K for my R90S....already had an offer approaching that and restored ones, (not as good) are selling for that in Germany..........but you should be able to find a good one in the UK for £5K

Dry stored for quite a long time and had done less than 3,000 miles since new. It was in "as new as you can get for a 30 year old Bike" condition and, apart from regular fluid changes, has only ever had new tyres and batteries.

I would prefer both of the Bikes that I have put on this thread, the R80 mono and the R90S, to any "expensive parts bin put together by HPN).........that in reality, (if you would all only admit it), looks like a real "dogs breakfast"

I can honestly say threads like this are turning the Airhead section in to a rack of shit, mods stop twirling spanners and yer buying and selling lark and get this once respectable house in order :rob

Have you bought another Bike yet? or did they recover yours?

The way things are going in the Airhead section, (but still more interesting than any other section!), I am thinking about buying a K to polish..more plastic parts!
