Sounds like firm offer of £10k was made safe in the knowledge it would never be accepted. If its right, good luck to you as thats the best profit on an ebay buy for a while I should think.

I'll join in now

I have an offer on Camille which is ok ( and five time the amount mentioned here) but its for a privat collected in Russia. Now I know I should snap his hand off but following a conversation with bmw at the nec they have shown an interest and would put her on display to the public. Both HPN and gaston's mechanic have verified her authenticity so we now know she's the real deal and Carroll Nash have agreed the insured value at £100k. We know there are some bits that are wrong but they are not unreversable and she could be put back to exactly how she looked in 84. I'm waiting to see what BMW want to offer before making up my mind but I would like her to be shown in public rather than hidden away in someone's private museum.
Hope that answers things for you.:thumb2

Torch it :D

Thanks Syco...

I stated at the time of Sy buying Camille that I knew in my heart that she was the REAL DEAL...
Over the pursuing years.....
I was proven right, call it yiddish intuition but I do have a nose for this sort of thing..
I really do hope that Sy can keep her, as I will still be able to see her when visiting...
Just me being selfish...

Bet the gent who sold her to you would be pissed off if he ever finds out. Good for you :clap

Well said Proff, looks like you were correct:thumb

Trippy mate

I was joking.

Won't he just, it's not often you sell something for £95k under its value :D

Nice buy :thumb2

It's insured value is agreed at £100k which is different to its market value. 50k is the best offer I've had and the guys a serious buyer who has a huge collection of rare bikes including an NR 750, RC45 and RC30 plus a collection of ex works mx bikes and some 30 BMW's. I'm tempted but in my heart of hearts I'd still like her to be seen by people as she's special for a number of reasons. She is after all the bike Gaston took his first Dakar win on:thumb2

Looks like it could fund a racetruck for your family exploits perhaps, tough call

But if BMW want it, I would ship it to Munich for the Mobile Tradition Museum, if their deal is right

Really awkward position to be in

I don't think I could turn down £50k, who knows when an offer like that'll come along again. I'm afraid I'd take the money and enjoy spending it on the lads racing.

just for the hell of it

I thought i'd post a few pics of her as she stands today:D I know pastyman will be looking down with a proud smile cos i did get it done in the end:clap
so here yer are, and maybe you'll see why the value has gone up a tad. Plus don't forget theres over a years worth of fabrication, research and blood gone into this plus a few quid:D

Hey syco -looks beautiful & those tool pouches in the seat are giving me ideas.
Just wondering tho - has it ever been ridden off road since you've had it? if so what did it go like?

We know there are some bits that are wrong but they are not unreversable and she could be put back to exactly how she looked in 84.

I'm sure there will be folk with the same pieces hanging up in barns or workshops in countries such as Belgium, Holland, France or Germany.
I have heard stories of full bikes 'of historic interest' being under sheets..... amazing really!
Every now and then parts like M1 forks, fuel cells, headlight fairings and tailend fenders become available, and you can see the prices soar as word gets out that they are on the market (ebay).

It would be great to have a bike like Syc's 101, and it would be great to roll it out on a historic event, but if the value of the bike is as high as some of you guys are making out, then for many it will be a dream now.
I had a chat with a BMW engineer at the Portuguese round of the WEC last year, and he told me of a collection of machines that he had access to (:augie), it would be great to see what treasures 'he' had..... and also listen to the stories of how he came to have these machines!:drool

Timpo.

If have to say that I agree with others about taking the money and investing it in your Son's racing career. If you have the confidence in your Son's ability then this will be a small investment in his future earnings, rather than asking others to fund his future.

Err

I'm not asking others to fund his racing other that companies I'm trying to get sponsorship from. The tees and calendars are racing memorabilia and are for those who feel like I do that his racing career may go somewhere. Wouldn't you have liked a calendar signed by a young v Rossi and would it be worth something now:nenau I'm waiting to see if BMW want Camille, if not the Russian guy might have it and the money will go towards Ross's racing but the truth is £50k won't go far once he gets onto the 125s. On a tight leash maybe 2 seasons. Hence why I'm working hard on the sponsors now because in 4 years time they will become very important.
Or I could do it like so many dads who wait until they can't afford to race then go try to get sponsorship by which time it's abit too late. Another wasted talent unable to race due to lack of money and forward thinking:nenau

God no

I'd cut my wrists if I dropped her:blast before the rebuild I rode her quite hard off road and she was fantastic but as I crash alot ( my brain keeps telling me I'm as good as David knight but my body can't keep up) I'd better not no matter how tempting:D
