Anyone had any experience using the Remus headers with the BMW Akra can on the HP2? Any fueling problems or any others??

:)

Great option, add the K & N filter plus the Wunderlich power controler and you are set.

If your over 90 kilos the Ohlins rear shock and wilbers front springs are also worth every penny.

power controler

Thanks for the advise Wings. Is the power controller a necessity with the Remus header/BMW Akra can combination? What kind of power increase and where is the increase? Any dyno results?

From what we understand BMW set the bikes to run very lean to comply with Emmission restrictions in Germany, With the change in airfilter and exaughst the bike will run slightly leaner and hotter the Wunderlich controller richens up the mixture. my bike runs between 1 & 2 little bars cooler on the temp guage than the standard bikes in hot weather in thick sand. For me the wunderlich is about engine temperature more than power.
On the Power side though any of the gaps in the throttle range have been filled in and at full bore the bike realy feels like a superbike, you get that tight ball felling under hard acceleration.
Please consider your warranty in all this and check with your dealer before making the changes.

Loud Remus

My dealer tells me the Titanium Remus headers are very loud.. I don't mind a bit of a boost in sound but do the headers make a big increase? Looking to use the Akra BMW can... Don't want to disturb the birds :guitarist

KDT,

One of the guys at the shop had the full Remus system on his HP2. OK not the Akra but still it gives an idea of how loud.

Yep, it's loud, but depends on your taste. Most guys who heard it thought it sounded great, and I will be the first to admit that it sure did sound sweet, but it was far too loud for my tastes.

Owner said he lost a little on the bottom end but midrange was better and top end was much improved. Rusty said the low end loss may be due to the lack of a balance tube on the Remus headers.

Could be the Wunderlich (Techlusion) box may fix the bottom end issues on this system.

I never heard it running with the baffle in place on the can but it is supposed to make it quite a bit quieter.

I have just the Akra slip-on with the stock headers. Yes, I just wanted the sound. I realize the big gain is in the headers but I did this on my GS and, for me, the noise got old really quick on long trips.

Two others heard this Stock/Akra set up and both ordered the Akra.

With the stock headers and the Akra can it sounds really, really sweet, loses no bottom end, which was important to me, and can be made quiet as stock by putting the baffle back into the can with just one bolt.

In August I am adding the Wunderlich box and the "blue" air filter, which is now on my desk. I am hoping to get a mild performance boost this way without being so loud that I cause my neighbours to hate me at 2:00 in the morning when I come home from work.

If this doesn't make me happy then I will spring for the Remus headers but I willhave to deal with swapping the Akra baffle in and out depending on what I am doing with the bike. Mind you it sure would sound nice.........:augie

BTW, are you going to make the ride in June?

Hi Bario:

I heard the Remus on a bike at John Valks but do not know if it was the full system. It sounded pretty sweet. I'd really like to get a header set without the cat that would be more durable to rock hits. The full Akra system would be ideal due to the higher profile. I've only heard of one member of the group who has actually gotten the HPN setup but still no report on how it works on the bike. I'm sure the fueling situation would be improved with the Wunderlick setup. Everyone I have talked to agrees this would be a good idea especially with the new filter. The lower note would be a bonus but the performance benefit would be my main objective. If more power and a quiet can with a lower note went together I would be happiest.

The June ride is not looking good due to A PRIOR COMMITMENT on the Friday:mad: I may be able to catch up with the group on Saturday:augie No problem if I get my new exhaust:rolleyes: Hope to see you out there:bounce1

If it was the SM HP2 with the alloy wheels then yes, it was the full Remus. Sure does sound nice, doesn't it?

I too would like to see/hear the Akra system but I don't know anyone who has even seen one yet. I cheap bastard & won't spend money until I see what I am getting.

Have you done anything about the next-to-useless engine bash plate yet? I am looking to change it but again, no one I know has done this and I won't buy a new item before seeing exactly how it mounts and how much protection it really provides. I have seen a few different plates on the web but if they mount with the same type of system as the stock one then they too will destroy the engine casing if it gets hit.

Look forward to possibly seeing you for the Saturday/Sunday portiion of the ride. One more HP2 confirmed and booked and still one other HP2 rider thinking about it. If all make it we will have 4 HP2's from the shop on that ride:clap

Bash plate

I remember reading (maybe on this website) that Euro HP2's were recalled to install rubber bushings on the bash plate. Rusty had heard nothing about it for Canadian bikes. It would make sense to do this.. Anyone know about a recall???
Check out the post "Engine Protection Plate/Sump Guards - opinions" on this group.

I think the bike with the Remus system was with SM wheels. Is it Lance? I know he lives in Abotsford. It sounded pretty nice! Do you know if there is a baffle as in the Akra?

I have written to Laser to see if they offer headers on their own but no reply as yet.. I would really like the HPN system but I'm in the same boat not wanting to be the the first. No revues as yet...The communications with HPN is very poor. Do you know anyone that speaks German? I'm told fax is the best method. Need the tank as well:roll
