My new 1200GS is due in two or three weeks.

Should I put an akrapovic can (plus aftermarket filter) on it? Pros, cons, what do you think?

I'm not sure about whether a K&N filter will make much difference, but I'd say an end can gives you a bit more grunt, if nothing else it'll make the bike sound much nicer. What you really want to do is fit some aftermarket headers, even if you don't fit an aftermarket can they'll free things up a bit.

loud can

there,s for and against, i have one on mine does not improve peformance but gives a nice drone to the bike if your into that sort a thing :o the real reason i like it is because cars can hear you even before they see you from a safety point of veiw, one good blip on the throttle they will either look in their mirrors
or even pull in a bit to let you by :cool:bad points, though it never happened to me some countrys you get nicked for have,n em :(

I have the Akra can and Remus headers.

I would fit the headers in preference to the can as they make more of a difference.

But both is even better,obviously.

As above, spend your money on the headers and fit a can as well if funds allow.

Have had Remus headers fitted for a while and I like them, have just fitted today an Akro :D:D started up and it sounds  not had chance to go and have a play yet, but if it is to loud on the road it will have to come off :(

Let it melt, and be dammed !!

or fit a much smaller plate -- just covers the plate holder -- looks neat !

+2 :thumb2 the remus headers transform the power delivery, but IMHO the end can doesn't make much difference, alot lighter than the original exhaust and looks fab but so, so pricey
