Bm alarms under the pillion seat accessed by removing the rear mudguard.
Another type of alarm could be anywhere the fitter fancied fitting it.

Most auto electricians can neatly remove an alarm.

If it is the stock immobiliser your on about it isn't part of the alarm, it's part of the main ecu. Your ring antenna on the ignition barrel is probably stuffed. If it's aftermarket then it's anybodies guess with ought more information.

Thanks all just looked through all the posts as I was just thinking about an alarm for my new(to me)2012 GS1200 TU, any ideas on what the BMW alarm cost fitted v Metta ?

Don't bother with the BMW alarm holeshot. It will be roughly 300 fitted but it's a pretty poor alarm. It isn't approved by anyone so won't get you a discount. It also isn't very loud so won't alert you. Get a better alarm or spend the money on a good lock.

Iv had a few bikes with alarms I remove them if poss more hassle than worth,had bikes immobilized from faults depends where you keep or leave it parked they are fairly easy to remove long as you have a idea about electronics.

unless your going to get insurance discount Id not waste my money ?

Thanks. That prompted a quick U-turn. I cancelled the Meta appointment and booked it into Coopers in Tunbridge Wells for Wednesday afternoon to have a BMW alarm fitted on the grounds the cost was comparable and the BMW alarm is better integrated.(If someone was about to post telling me the the Meta decision was a good one, please don't!)Kevin

I'm not winding you up. but on my last RT which came with the BMW alarm as a package, I ended up having it disconnected. Prone to going off when sat in my locked garage , which concerned me.

My bike has the BMW alarm fitted, whilst not being a huge fan of alarms it seems to work OK.
