Alaska and the Yukon 2024

I'm new here and was looking for ideas in the UK. Nice ride nice pictures.
I am not sure if i'm amazed, intrigued or annoyed by all the cool spots I missed.
Alaska was an add on because, why not it was there, I did it in 4 days. I knew at the time I was missing way more than I saw.
I will just have to go back. I didn't have time for the Dalton. It's on my to do list.
I went up to see the solstice on the Arctic Circle. Eagle Plains was close enough. I crossed the AC next day and Made it to the Ocean in Tuk had a coffee turned around and rode home. On the way home I took a Detour Through Alaska.
I just have to add a few more places to my list for next time. I don't know when but I will go again.
I have my name on motoquest list for a delivery trip but timing hasn't worked yet. I got my own bike anyway. But it would save me going both ways.
Enjoy your ride.

Only somebody from a country the size of Canada would consider Alaska 'a detour' :ROFLMAO:

Just caught up with this Chris.
Great write up and pictures as always.

Really enjoyed this, thanks for posting. Any chance of some rough, indicative costs of the trip.plrsse, I'd really fancy this next time around.

I didn't keep an accurate tally. I probably averaged around 200 to 250 dollars a day. which probably means I didn't include a lot of stuff.
Motoquest Alaska bike rentals USD 160/day 750 GS upto 220/day, for a 1250 GS. or 8g to 10g for a guided tour. Self guided probably a bit less.
I didn't spend anywhere near this much. I had my own bike. (perhaps I spent a heck of a lot more), I was just winging it last minute.
Accomodation book well ahead. I passed through Anchorage without stopping overnight and skipped the peninsula everything was full booked or extremely expensive. Alaska highway I did some high mile days just because I couldn't find a vacancy. It really is the middle of nowhere.
Svens was $50 per person/night. I was lucky to get a spot. It was busy.
Motels or Cabins, are expensive. Alaska a cabin or motel $200 was about cheapest. I could find a short notice.
Most places were full.
So I ended up road side camping.
Dawson about $200 Cdn. for a cheep Motel.

Motoquest?? How very dare you...........

Alaska and the Yukon definitely aren't cheap but if you just rock up without pre booking anywhere you really are going to pay top dollar.

I get these trips set up 12 to 18 months before hand so get pretty good deals.
