allan jefferies

Julio, I have bought 2 bikes from them and travel 100 miles each way for service/warranty work.
highly recomend them.

Thoroughly recommended. Reasonable prices (for a main dealer), friendly & knowledgeable staff, would certainly buy another bike from them (and I live 40 miles away with my nearest BWM dealer only 12 miles away).

jefferies

I bought my 1200Gs over the phone from Jefferies, I was told by the sale man that the bike was like new condition, so I took the guys word.

Here are some of the problem I have found with the bike since I got it home. left side tank panel slightly damage which is making the top tank panel fit incorrectly, gear change level to low catching the side stand, scratch on the beak.
engine oil level low, ( I would have thought the bike would have been checked over before it was sent out) front and rear brake discs corroded. I spent £9690 with them and they didn't seem very bothered when I told them about the brake discs, I have sent the tank panel back just waiting to see what happens next.

Popped in/out a few times and left my details once. Also, phone call and emails to get details for bikes they were selling. Never heard a thing. Assume they are able to sell without talking to people. Always ignored in the shop. Not impressed and went longer to Rotherham in the end!

Funny, isn't it? How people's impressions differ. I really don't like Williams in Manchester, but I have heard people say they are fantastic. I guess it depends on your mood, their mood, and the relationship you build up over time. Nobody's perfect, I guess.

Get to Rainbow

See you are in Leeds, only one thing to suggest, get to Rainbow in Sheffield, ask for Shaun or Kev. Best in the country and on your doorstep.

Check out there web site.

Spoilt for choice

Julio -- Living in Huddersfield you have the really difficult problem of choosing between Jeffries and Rainbow , both among the best BMW dealers in the country .

Glyn J's comments are apt , an individual's reaction to a situation often says as much about them as the dealer they are commenting upon .

I have used both Jeffries and Rainbow for many years and can attest to the quality of their staff , knowledge , expertise and quality . Both have treated me well and both offer excellent service .

However , I know several experienced riders who will pass either Jeffries or Rainbow in order to get to the other dealer , this despite the extra miles / hassle .

Now , I have spent too many hours just mouching about in dealers , kicking tyres , telling tall tales , watching those blessed with mechanical skill operating , and finally observing customers - perhaps the most interesting spectacle of all - try it when you have the time !

I once saw a male customer do his best to piss off staff at Jeffries by complaining vociferously that the two test bikes that he and his girlfriend had taken out for a ride only had half full tanks , this after having been out for thirty mins. . He waited impatiently whilst a mechanic topped up both tanks ,before they set out on the test ride part two - all this on a busy Saturday morning with a shop full of customers ! He seemed to be totally unaware that his behaviour was selfish and unreasonable . He may well now be someone who is unable to explain his lack of comfort with Jeffries .

Similarly , I was in Rainbow enjoying myself on a beautiful summer's day chating to a mate over a coffee and witnessed a customer coming in to trade in his GS and collect his new bike . His trade - in was absolutely encrusted with fresh filth and he had evidently used that morning to take his bike for a trip over the moors , off-road ! How could he expect to be welcomed with open arms next time on his return , having treated Rainbow in such a fashion ?

There have been times when I have not been fully satisfied with something from both dealers but I take the view that we are in this together for the long term , that way I can turn up @ 07:15 @ Jeffries on a Tuesday morning so that Dan can fit a new starter motor , so that I don't miss a track day @ Cadwell that day - superb service !

Finally , get to know them , remember that it is their place of work - watch how hard they work and think how you might feel if people were able to walk right in to your office / workshop and demand that you deal with them . I think that they do a difficult job very well . Take pleasure in being spoilt for choice & enjoy !

All the best , Jim

James Bryan, well done. That is a very mature and thoughtful post.

NOW that I find very strange, when I picked up my 1200Gs there was only 46 mile of fuel in the tank according to the gauge, the sales guy" Keith"told me-:quote- sorry I can't put you any petrol in the bike we are not aloud to have fuel in the showroom (bull st!t,what about the work shop) looks like he was having a good day, £9690 and couldn't run to a gallon of juice, very poor show, I hope they treat there next 10k customer a little better, may be Keith was having a bad day after all, "way to go Jefferies"

PS, I forgot he did buy me a cup of tea, whoopee do.

Joe. Please re-read Jim's post. Slowly. Carefully. Take a deep breath and calm down. Jefferies is a top dealer. Not perfect, maybe, but amongst the best. If you never go back there you will never know.

I hear good things and bad things about all of the dealers ... Jeffries and Rainbow don't even come close to being bad ... (no I won't say who is) ... but you've got the bike now ... give them another go... but have a quite word in the salesman's ear ... he maybe more than willing to sort you out (just remember ... he is only a salesman ... they are simple folk at the best of times ... speak slowly and carefully ... and don't make any sudden movements toward your wallet... thats when they strike!)

Well I took your advise and took a deep breath, then phoned Jefferies and spoke to Mike Lyon (very nice Guy too) all the problem with my bike are going to be sorted out this weekend with a bit of luck.
You can't blame me for getting upset, I spent a lot of money on Saturday buy the 1200, but I suppose these things happen, as long as they sort it out I be happy and want have a problem recommending them to friends.

Nice one, Joe. Good luck on Saturday. Might even be there myself.
