HELP!

The alloy on the front wheel of my 850GS appears to have taken on the appearence of cheap zinc! I cleaned the bike t'other day (mad fool that I am) and after a hose down and scrub with Turtlewax's finest car wash liquid I went to dry the front wheel off. It's as if the wheel has been treated with abrasive chemical and a 'bloom' of something nasty has started to grow on the metal.

Has this happened to anyone else? If so what did you do about it? Even an application of Autosol doesn't appear to have any effect. Bike now looks terrible and I am p****d off!

Please Help!

Are you sure you haven't used a Bike cleaner with acid in it , that would cause the symptoms you describe. If you use it and don't wash it off quickly - it eats the alloy.
I've used Turtle wax - 'wash and shine' for years wiyh no probs and it brings GS wheels up a treat.

I had exactly the same problem with this product on the screen of my bike. It completely ruined the screen.

After a short war with the makers (who came up with every excuse possible) I ended up replacing out of my own pocket.

Not very satisfying.

Exactly which Turtle Wax product are you using? I use Turtle Wax Zip Wax wash-n-wax with no problems. When I've used more expensive products such as Autoglym I sometimes get left with a waxy residue that dulls the black painted parts (such as handlebars) and plastics, so I now stick to good old Turtle Wax.
