The wife's car needs 4 tyres so I want to take the opportunity to sort out the kerbed wheels. The company we used to use has gone bump so does anyone have any recommendations for someone they've used? Looking for a proper job, ie. tyres off, complete strip, repair and powdercoat. Not mask the tyres and a halfords rattle can. :D I've used redditch shotblasting in the past for bike bits but haven't seen any of their wheel work. Over to you guys, any help gratefully received.

I was in similar position last year with our 02 320 Touring. Went on eBay and got a set of 4 18" alloys for £480 complete with Tyres. Cheaper than a refurb option.

I've looked at doing that but can't find the same wheels (other than copies with cheapo tyres) except one set that still needed refurbishing.

The chap we used to use would come down from Solihull, put the car on axle stands, take the wheels away, tyres off, refurb, put the tyres back on and bring them back to fit them. All for £60 a wheel. No surprises he went out of business at that price. :blast

Not exactly close to you but i used these guys who are nr Gatwick, they did a superb job. Not sure if they have branches elsewhere, worst case you have the wheels couriered to them.

Dansin, Let me ask Pugsley when he comes home...he is well into refurbing wheels and stuff....give me an hour and i will come back to you:thumb

Dansin,

Got hold of Pugsley and he said these people can help you out.

City Powder Coates 0121 448 7646

and

Bourne's

Tel: 0121 666 6595

Pugsley did say that Bourne's were doing a deal on wheels not too long ago, something like £20 per wheel.

Hope these help you sort out your wife's wheels.

A mate of mine in Honeybourne will probably do that for you. I'm with him tomorrow so will get a quote and give you a shout:thumb

Is it a BMW ? I have had my 330 Clubsport wheels done twice (they are split polished rims and they corrode like clockwork every 3 years !) by the SMART repair guys at Worcester BMW. I wouldn't use them for anything else but their SMART repairs wheel refurbs are excellent. I think they are about £80 plus VAT a wheel though.

Update

I used Washford Finishings in the end who are next door to Redditch shotblasting, but half the price (£30 per wheel).

I took 2 sets of wheels over and picked them up the next day. I could have left the wheels with their sister company, Blackpole Powder Coating who would have ferried them back and forth. Needn't have worried and in future I would let them do the leg work.

I would thoroughly recommend them as one of the wheels was really badly kerbed and is now as new. Even better recommendation is the fact that as I was loading them up I dinged 2 wheels together and took a huge chunk out of one of them..... :blast Without asking, they said eff off for an hour and leave the wheel with them. Came back and they'd shot blasted and powdercoated it again FOC. :thumb
