Hello Folks.
Due to maintenance work required, the Allt Y Badi has had an 18 month TRO imposed.
Resurfacing and drainage repairs are in the scope of works.
There is a pressure group of NIMBYs leaning on Denbighshire County Council to close this ancient route.

Please feel free to contact the Highways Dept of Denbighshire County Council, asking them about the repairs, the length of time of the TRO and your interest in the reopening of the route as a County Road.
Be sure to include your full name and address.

[email protected]

There must be at least a hundred riders on this site that have used this lane, please help to preserve it's status on the map.

Thanks.

Timpo.

PS. I have posted this on the end of one of the best GS-ing threads about the Allt......:thumb

E mail sent tonight Timpo. The lane ain't that bad to ride up given a clear run. I wouldn't want it changed at all...

email sent last night & automated reply rec'd today, saying that I should get a proper reply in the next 10 days.

Had a recce of the road again yesterday, and there has been a 100m stretch of tarmac put down near the bottom of the route, but that's all.
This is going to be a real hot potato.
DCC have said that the route will reopen, and this may be before the TRO runs it's 18 month course.
The resident in Cherry Tree Farm has a different idea.
I had a chat with two old blokes, one in llan and one in Fron (I was there recceing another byway blockage) and they said that closure has been tried before, but user pressure had it quashed in the courtroom.

Take a look:

http://www.itvlocal.com/wales/programmes/?player=WAL_Prog_15&void=209668

See how many different excuses she uses to warrant a closure....

As mentioned, bikes can make it up easily if you have a clear run, and usually being a run leader, I get chance to get the camera out......;)

As many of us well know.
Email sent, and reply recieved.

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your enquiry dated 11/07/08. Allt y Badi is subject to a
temporary TRO for a period of 18 months in order for us to carry out
drainage and resurfacing works. It is envisaged that the road will only be
closed whilst we are undertaking works. Some work has already been
completed and it is likely that the road will be reopened to traffic in the
near future. Further closures will be required during the 18 month period
to enable us effect repairs dependant on the result of our ongoing
investigations.

Got the same email... It looks like they don't intend having it closed for the whole of the 18mths, but for periods during that time. That looks a bit more promising :)

Please suggest the text for a suitable email. I am a bit confused as to whether we need to tell them simply not to touch it because they appear to be aiming to put tarmac on it, or to hurry up and get the thing fixed.

Enough tarmac for a decent run up ? :D

The usual type of text mentions using the route, why you were using it, when you used it and why you should still be able to use it.

There has been many CC contacts now and this is really promising.
I have the feeling though that we have not heard the last of this NIMBY.

Hopefully I will hear of the TRO being lifted shortly, between maintenance sessions. I will be leading a trail ride asap once the Order is lifted.

Thanks for your efforts.

Timpo.

PS. Snoops, that's the one......:D

:thumb2I've dropped my CRM's forks off for new seals to be fitted, but let me know when you intend doing the next run & I'll try to get down there for it. I really fancy having a go - it sounds like my sort of challenging, technical ride...

TRO

Timpo, I have put an email in privately too.

Having had the pleasure of descending it, (not been up it yet..) it was scary but blooming good fun.. and I certain wish to see it kept open.
