First trip form UK the Black Forest / B500 will seem pretty awesome.
My advice would be not to travel with two muppets who expect someone else to organise their trip for them and then make demands on the pace of the trip and the accommodation arrangements, this will be a far bigger challenge for this trip....
...the next trip will be far easier as this friendship should well and truly be over so the OP can sort himself out a real nice trip such as RDGA and stay in the wonderful variety of good value Hotels the Alps has to offer.
May be a bit late now, but you could try Pension William in the Black Forest, very affordable accommodation with English Owners (as I reckon the Ops' buddies are the sort to insist on such things) A week here is probably a bit much, but 3 nights here and maybe the same in the Vosges would be a good choice IMO.
The B500 is very long - the "best bit" (Famous / heavily policed / frequented by dickheads) section is the first 25 or so miles South of Baden Baden - try and avoid it at weekends where it can be very busy (with lots of Plod) I tend to run this section first thing in the morning or in the evening when in that region.
Anywhere else in the Black Forest region is good, can be some traffic near the larger towns, but I bet all the routes offered so far will be great rides.
A base for a few nights is perfect to allow circular routes, especially as camping and the aggro of setup / tear down.
Should be a great trip (apart from the two Muppets for company)
Good luck, look forward to the report.
