Autogs
Didnt your mum tell you not to drink on an empty head !! :)

I was there last year end of June into July, I think that you have got it planned about right, we had very warm sunshine and also torrential rain. The rain can soon clear after a storm and its warm again.
Makes sure that you ride the Stelvio...it's a bucket list must!
I'll be out there again in just over 3 weeks:thumb

Alps in July can be anything from 39 degrees plus to two weeks of torrential rain to snow over 1000 metres on every pass , its a lottery

Ye done it in september but lucky with weather.

Shipping bike to memmingen then flying out.

Using overlanders.ie

I've had +2 and snow at the top of the Grossglockner, followed by +27 a few minutes later as I descended into Italy.

Another time riding from Switzerland to the Dolomites via Stelvio it p*ssed it down all day and 2-4 temperatures. The next day it was 32 degrees

ok thanks for replies. Rukka it is then to send with bike.
and autogs, rain has stopped you can go back out and play and leave the adults to have a discussion ! :D

I have been over there before, was nr 40c in some parts even Switzerland was in 30s, up in the alps could be 20+ or as low 0c if cloud covered, We had a few days of continual rain, but it was quite warm, but coming up from southern France into Italy was HOT once person on a GS really struggled (dehydrated very fast), as the screen stops all the wind blast you need, he had to ride in a T shirt in the end, though at times it was like someone holding a hit hair dryer in front of your face, so I would wear light textiles, take under layers legs and top, and then some water proofs to put on if required, (2 piece are so much easier to get on by side of the road) to wear a Rukka suit (unless it is one of the AIR ones you might get very very hot, even with it open on the top.

Good advice

I'll be wearing my thin long sleeved base layer, plus heated waist-coat and Klim latitude jacket with no lining when I go in a few weeks.

I find that a heated vest gives me a wider range of temperature flexibility. If it's chilly over the top I'll power up the heated vest via the remote handle bar controller, if it's hot I'll open all the jacket vents, and if it's boiling hot I'll put the heated waist-coat in the top box.

An air jacket with a fleece insert, together with a light waterproof over jacket copes with just about everything.

I've been in Barcelonnette at lunchtime (30Cdeg), and halfway up Col De La Bonnette - the temp had dropped to 3Cdeg in the mist. Waterproof shell jacket on top - did the trick.
