I would like to change the end can on my 09 GS, ideally i would like an Akropovic but to be honest they are a little on the expensive side of my budget even 2nd hand.

Can anyone suggest an alternate to the Akropovic, i would like to go with a Titanium can if possible.

Remus Revolution comes in a Titanium flavour. I've had the same one on 3 GSes so far.

MIVV

I would suggest the MIVV-exhaust pipe. We have r1200gs, one of them a 08 adventure. The sound is just perfect, not too loud and with a deep grumbling sound. In Germany it costs about 500 euro (check boxerdesign.de and/or the mivv-homepage).
with the original pipe we had a little performace-lack between 3500 and 4000 u/min which is completely gone now.

The pipe is sold with a regular inlet (i don't know what it is called in english, but i am talking about the inner tube) and a short one, which is rather a "fake" IOT to not attract the police's attention.

greetz!

I had a 12GSA and kept the standard exhaust as I thought that it sounded lovely.I would save your money for a good week away instead. JJH

end cans do very little on these bikes, removing the cat however does,so get your self a set of downpipes and collector or cut the cat out of standard and weld up,more power and nicer noise:thumb

Got a Scorpion Titanium end can on my current GSA (from my old GS). A lot cheaper than the Akra pipes and still nicely made plus a lot less weight than stock.

Just bought a used set of Quill sports headers today ready for when the warranty expires (Cheers Rob).:thumb

Agreed - keep your cash.

The only way to really get the best out is to do the headers as well - a full system. End can only just makes a noise - headers as well then yee haaa...

I got a Remus Hexacone among with Wunderlich blue filter, stock headers incl. cat. Although I didnt expect nothing more than richer, more amusing sound through the rev range, I actually got appreciably more vitality and sharper engine response from 5000 rpms on – while I hardly revved the bike over 4500 rpm before, now I am finding myself in a „streetfighta“ riding mood all the time. There’s now something slightly "italian" to the boxer’s character.

All in all it is notable improvement that helped to make riding my GS more enjoyable, albeit from purely subjective reasons. Not every aspect of "thrill of riding" can be measured on a dyno...

Titanium remus would be my suggestion. They come up fairly frequently on this site.
