Rukka or best alternative

So there we have it Grant.

Rukka is bulletproof but the holes make it leak .
Stadler is so good nobody sells it in the UK .
I’d get a Twat Suit if I was you , as it’s named after you , ya muppet . You seen my briefcase ?

Baja S4 is my current long-distance touring suit of choice, suitably layered up inside and out. It's not perfect - flows too much air for anything but the warmest days - but it's easy to wear and easy to adapt for whatever weather you encounter.

Baja S4 is the leader in the clubhouse but I have my eye on the new TouraTwat Dustrider...
^^^^^The only problem I found upgrading to level 2 D30 amour the pockets are a bit to tight. Worth following Sportbike shop on eBay, they have some bargains on all major brands. Baja S4 jacket was half price, Motolegends came up half price on the trousers. BMW Goretex over suit takes care of waterproofing. Electric vest for when is cold.
Pooling water now was solved with Coolcover setup. Keeps you cool and dry, can't believe people don't use it as a standard equipment.
Oooh - I lied. I once had a set of Rukka Merlin leathers - GoreTex laminated leather. Weighed even more than a Klim Badlands suit but I loved it - and I never got wet wearing it...
I also had the Lancelot and the Merlin in 2 different size, the weirdest cut ever. It does what is designed for but never bonded, was cool in the summer and 100% waterproof. The lates Rukka Coriace doesn't use Goretex but has exactly the same cut as the previous versions. I also tried the Alpinestars 365 Gore-tex Leathers. Same cut.
Purchased from here an old BMW Streetguard jacket, still warm and waterproof. Insane amount of armour and size.
Personally for me layering works, I do have an unhealthy amount of high end leathers, BKS, Aero, Simmons Bilt. The Aero with the alpaca lining make a very good cold weather jacket.

There’s a whole range of items that appear in the German language motorcycle and touring magazines, that never get a heads-up here. The UK is a smaller market than we might think.
UK 🇬🇧 motorcycle market is tiny compared to Germany and Italy/France

Klim Carlsblad on my recent trip to South East Europe . Lots of vents and waterproof when it rained . Needed to layer up if cold but no hardship . Comfortable too . I have a Rukka but don’t seem to wear it as it’s too warm . Love the Klim Marakesh as well .

I've had my Dainese sport master laminated suit for at least 5 years. Fits me like it was tailored, is comfortable and has never leaked.
I take the precaution of riding with a cool cover to stop rain pooling round my nuts and being driven through the seam.

I have the black version of this, Revit sand 4 H2O, it’s a true 4 season jacket

At the end of the video see the tip about the water proof layer, I wear it on the outside like this, works great

There is a newer version 5 out now which is designed to do the same, including the trousers, if I was in the market for new gear I’d be looking at this

Hideout made to measure
Kate will not only take all the necessary measurements, but ask you what type of riding, to ensure sufficient venting, and placement of the vents.
Not cheap (Around 2k)
If you have the money I would seriously recommend Hideout.

Clothing is subjective.
One persons ideal suit could be someone elses nightmare.

Best to go to a store and try on for fit, feel and weight.
If you buy any of the top brands it should be mostly waterproof.

I wear Merlin mesh gear in summer and Klim Jacket and Pants for the other 3 seasons

Twat suit...I had an offer of one, which then suddenly was withdrawn.....

So maybe I do need to go with a nice new Twat suit to go with the Wank Toaster and dump the Chinese tosh....
Better be careful with my wording as well...

Its all subjective I know but appreciate the feedback from those that probably ride a lot more than i do in all weathers........
I am going to have a google and see what my next move will be...

Rev It is a good Dutch make apparently and my pal thinks its the dogs bollox....some nice looking kit. Let see where I go...
Thanks to all and please keep it coming if it helps others too....

......Now where´s that briefcase , ya muppet.....

I am also a Rukka fan. Three laminated jackets (Armaxis followed by Navigatorr, followed by Nivala). One summer jacket (Raymore). Two pairs of laminated pants, both Armaxion.

Dots washed off Armaxis jacket but not off the others. Dots washed off both pairs of pants. None of the garments ever leaked - not once, not ever.

I had a Stadler Supervent jacket. So stiff it might as well have been made of steel, so I never found it that comfortable. I still have the Stadler pants and they are fabulous. Paired with the Rukka Nivala jacket (and the Motolegends zip adaptor) they are my go-to 2/3 season UK kit.

I am also a Klim fanboy. I've had Traverse, Badlands Pro, Carlsbad and Baja S4. The one I didn't get on with was the Badlands Pro. It's tough and strong and all that stuff but I rode it from London to Beijing and that's when I learned that laminate in hot weather is a really, really, really crap idea. After three months wearing it every day, the suit could have ridden the bike without me. It stank to high heaven (and would you trust a laminate suit to a Tibetan street laundry?). It was way too stiff and way too heavy. Just the wrong tool for the job.

Baja S4 is my current long-distance touring suit of choice, suitably layered up inside and out. It's not perfect - flows too much air for anything but the warmest days - but it's easy to wear and easy to adapt for whatever weather you encounter.

So, in summary (for me). Laminate for UK/Northern Europe from mid-Autumn to mid-Spring. Non-membrane kit for summer and/or long multi-climate trips.

I am doing top to bottom of India next year - Himalaya to Kerala - so most weather condition likely. Baja S4 is the leader in the clubhouse but I have my eye on the new TouraTwat Dustrider...
thanks, I had a good read and a bit of a google. I also took out my old Rukka stuff again to see exactly what I had. The Rukka mesh suit is fine although the troos are a bit tight on the thighs which I don't like. Cant even remember the model number....its almost 7years old now anyway....
Reading @richardbd thread above and the other reports above I am thinking along the following lines:

Klim Badlands Pro and a Klim Baja S4 as mesh suit with respective troos. I do have a Helite airvest so no need for the back protectors. Colour scheme is not brilliant and I´d like to understand why the Badlands Pro A3 is a whole lot more cash than the Pro.
I now need to go try it on for size....now to find a dealer over here.

happy to discuss further if anyone has strong ideas.....

Recently after considering splashing out on a new wet-weather gore-tex type suit, I came across this in a BMW Motorrad showroom...

The BMW Motorrad Moreno GTX Suit.... (not the "Connect" version with intergral led lights)

Since BMW were having some some clear-out sales, I managed to track down and purchase the suit at a fraction of the RRP.

Very comfortable and lighter than my previous Streetguard. Lots of clever venting, although I doubt I'll use it in the Summer months/ Southern Europe. Ideal for this time of year, Spring/Autumn / Northern Europe.
Will report any crutch leaks in due course.

Laminated jacket - Klim Kodiak - heavy and reassuring. Still a bit boxy. Annoying side loading main pockets. Confident it would protect me in the event of an off. Reflective stickers peeling off and it only gets washed properly one a year. Fully waterproof to date. Good venting. Worn in 30 degrees but I was sweating like a rapist. You cant get long winter gloves under the collars.

Laminated trousers - Klim Badlands Pro - heavy and reassuring - same as the above but no peeling stickers.

Mesh jacket and suit - Revit Cayenne 2 - superb bit of kit, especially with a cooling vest. Its performance is reduced by the GSs fairing etc. If you stand up it's wonderful. I put the screen fully down in hot weather and it's much better. I carry the tools to take it off completely but haven't had to do that yet.

Waterproofs - Revit but the trousers are hard to put on over boots and if you go up a size they flap like buggery. The jacket has no access to pockets. Fully waterproof so far.

If I had to do it all again? I'd seriously consider a Revit Sand 5 H20 but keep the Cayenne.

Klim Badlands - for me ,,, I use it in all weathers , it has been on for 12 Arctic circle crossings ,,, it has done Hot in the South of France ,, it has seen more than 45c across Death Valley ,,,,,, and EVERYTHING in between .
Bought new from Gary at the Adventure Bike Warehouse in Manchester in 2012 😳 ,,, it has NEVER leaked in a drop so far .
It gets a wash occasionally in nikwax tech wash , and then rinsed through with Nikwax gore tex waterproofer .
Getting a bit of a patina about it now ,, but still functional !
