Aluminium box's

A true Pedant would have pointed out the terrible apostrophe crime in the thread title! :rob

Very true, I had spotted it too but there are errors here constantly and sometimes you just have to let the odd one through!

haha I've been twitching for days trying not to say anything!

Did you coat the hinges too. Where they sprayed or dipped?

I think the hinges unpolished stainless. May be wrong. They are certainly much tougher than aluminium to drill and they haven't shown any salt marking in 18 months.

The cases were salt stained after three fecking days so I bit the bullet, drilled the rivets and wrapped them. Right ball ache to be honest! :)

And before anybody says I should have covered them in stickers, I did, on the inside!

Exchanged today for new shiny ones

Thanks to Craig at Riders Cardiff

Also had the bike valeted & treated with ACF whilst there.

I can see some spots on them already!

Get them wrapped ASAP.:rob

Thats from the ACF and something else Craig had put on them.

But your right about having them wrapped, already spoken to Steve.

Hi Terry, that's a bummer :( I don't understand why BMW don't anodise these during manufacture the price they charge for them they ought to be.

It's not BMW to blame, it is touratech the ones who should be held responsible. But then saying that my Givi Trekker Outback top box is unfinished to.

I believe so Nutty, and like I've said the ones on my 2014 were definitely better quality. It's like everything these days cost cutting to make more profit.

Terry

Have a look on the inside of the box and you will clearly see touratech sticker in there.

I'm not really bothered who make them, my comparison is that my 2014 boxes were perfect, but the 2016 ones are shite. In fact my mate has my 2014 and they still look good.

I rode the bike to work Saturday with just the top box on, it's 25 miles the boxes were coated in GT85 but by the time I got to work the box was covered in white spots.

Definitely cheaper materials and at a guess I would say BMW have put the squeeze on Touratech and left them with no choice but to use cheaper grade Aluminium.

They seem to be doing a lot of that lately. Letting accountants run a business will have this effect, unfortunately.

Is there someone offering a wrapping service ?

Are you looking to have your boxes done

I think a few of us are on the verge of getting it done somewhere that is a fair cost or getting the humvee kit and doing it ourselves.
