I apologise for another tyre thread R:blast but is anyone running anakee 2's and what sort of mileage are you getting?, currently running OE Anakee's and the rear is dead at about 8K, read the blurb on the michelin site and there claiming 29% tread wear improvement R:augie, what are the alternatives as wear rate is probably more important as most of my miles is low speed stuff teaching CBT's etc.

I've just finished a ride from England to Nepal via the Arctic Circle. Originally had Anakees on. I fitted Anakee 2's in Germany and now have just over 17000 km on them. Heaps of tread left. I reckon I'll get at least another 10000km out of the rear - a few more k's out of the front.

The new tyres have tremendous grip and are great under braking.

Just popping out for a ride darling!......................to nepal!! :D:blast

Id be interested to find out peoples views on these too. Ive got the much plauded Tourances on at the mo but i work for michelin and will soon be getting a pair of Anakee 2's for nowt so id like to know if they're decent. If they're not then id probably pay for tourances or TKC80's and get a free set of tyres for the car - either or you see!

I think some really loved the Anakee but its meant to move around quite abit when your braking heavily and 'pressing on' which is not ideal.

Look forward to views.:thumb2

Had them on my 1200 and hated them- called the 'Panikees' cos they were so slidey.
Swapped at 1200 miles to Battlewings which were a huge improvement.

When I ordered the ADV I specified NO ANAKEES and guess what it came with?

Got the dealer to swap my part work Battlewings as there is no way I'd use them again- too many scary slides for no reason.

Now on good old Tourances and will avoid Michelin tires in any form now....

had OE Anakees on my 08 GS for 3k miles now and plan to get 2's when these wear out.

Found no problem with grip in the wet/dry. No problem when pushing on or braking but I do run them at .1 front and .2 back above normal which I found to be best.

I can't get the '2' version here in Thailand as yet, but i use the original ones on my 1200adv and cannot fault them at all, i'm on my third set at the moment after almost 38,000klms.

If the '2' version is better still then i can't wait to use them......

I have a pair of 2s which so far, at 2k miles in, do exactly what is claimed.

Never a worrying moment from them, nor to be fair was there an issue on wet or dry grip with the original Anakees. I run them at 32/36 solo, exactly as Michelin recommend - their R&D budget is way bigger than mine. My experience, worth what you paid for it, is that running them at 36/42 (which happened when the bike was serviced) makes them feel ever so slightly squirmy. Others may disagree.

I've had ...

... Anakee 2's on my 1150GSA for a couple of thousand miles and I'm not too impressed. The wear rate is about the same as Tourances but they have squirmed from new :o Reading the post above I'd probably better go and check the pressures :augie

9800 on a anarkee rear 1.5 mm tread left same mileage on the front at currant wear rate should do 12000,i use ultra seal which does extend tyre life will try anarkee 2 next time they are very good in the wet.

I also like the Anakee. I put them on my 07Adv and have done about 5000 miles so far. The rear is starting to look as if it's taking a bashing and probably has another 1500 miles in it, the front is better. I prefer lots of grip and a high wear rate to less grip and goes for ever.

I have been running them at Michelin's recommended 32/36psi, which really is too low as I'm getting a bit of wear on the shoulders of the rear from accelerating out of corners. I'm going to experiment with 34/39psi - which is half way to the 'standard' 36/42psi that every tyre on every other bike I've owned runs at. I don't understand why Michelin state such low pressures. :nenau

Will most probably go for Anakees again when these are dead.

Just fitted a set of Anakee 2 to an 1150, only done a 1000 mls but they seem fine exellant grip dry with a slighty quicker turn in than the Tourance and handle white lines better although they seem to move a bit in the wet when being really pushed (on greasy leaf covered welsh roads).

how does ultra seal extend tyre life?

According to the blurb ...

how does ultra seal extend tyre life?

... in it's fluid state it acts to dissipate heat :nenau I put it in a pair of tourances on my 1100 and got 15K miles out of them; I'm not sure if it was the heat dissipating, neither do I care

I like the oe Anakees , got well over 8k on the first rear which went down to just over 8k on the second one (500 miles less ?:nenau). Most of the miles done with a pillion on the second tyre with the recommended higher tyre pressure. Have put the same on again now as have never had any problems 'pushing on' nor in corners, wet or dry.

Think i didnt go for the Anakee 2 last time as they were slightly more expensive and had no info for what the improvements may be for the cost. If they handle as well and get 29% ish extra mileage then they would be worth it (imo) for the less than 10% increase in price that i seem to remember they were.

I also like the Anakees - 10,500 miles from my first set. Had a set of Anakee 2s on for the last 1,000 miles and had no issues with grip.

Tyres

Hi All
I am running Anakees, rear lasted about 7k used then on most types off roads and never had any worries with them, so reading what you guy's are getting with the Anakees 2 will be trying a set soon. Had a Perelli Scorpion fitted to the rear in Sweden, bleedin horrible!! :mcgun Think its some thing to do with the PTFE they coat them in to make them last longer!!

I have to agree. Original Anakees seem to 'dribble' under angle, more so when loaded (eg pillion).
Battlewing is a fun tyre, plenty grip in curves, though can surprise in wet weather.
